Rich flavor with hints of coffee good colour with a surprisingly cleaner finish than I expected. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Dark brown porter colored body. Nose is anomalously roasty, with a toasted bread, chocolate malt and dry coffee scent. Flavor is mostly the same: lightly dry, moderately roasty, with a rich and dry chocolate malt flavor, drying out even more in the finish. One of the more unique and flavorfull bocks I’ve had in a while. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 8, 2008 12oz bottle - OK now this is my 100th beer rating now let this be a good one. Nose is. Poured a rich mohogany color with small head. Nose is sweet with slight roasted malt scent. Taste is typical of a bock style brew. I am a fan of hops and bock brews are void of hop flavor so I really don’t enjoy these brews unless its a Ayinger Bock. This is a pretty good bock with a cranberry chocolate taste. This beer is more suited for wine lovers. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2007 12oz bottle courtesy of Monger. Thanks again for all of this Wisconsin goodness. Dark caramel brown body with a masses, creamy tan head. Tons of bubbles come immediately to the top. Excellent retention and sheet lacing. Gorgeous! Nose of toffee candy, dark toasty malts, bakers chocolate, nutmeg, yeast and biscuit dough. Fore is flowery, dark malts, some dark fruits, dough, chocolate and yeast. Extremely creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, very soft carbonation and a joy to drink. No hint at all of the relatively high ABV, this beer is unbelievably quaffable. Finish is chocolate, toffee/caramel candy, plums, dates and a wonderfully long blast of fresh baked dark bread. The doughy notes running throughout really keep any sweetness in check, and as a result this beer never gets anywhere near being cloying or overdone in that department. Another world class effort from possibly my favorite brewery on Earth.
