Aroma consists of loads of caramel malt with a nice mix of toffee and molasses. Taste is also quite rich with some nice touch of caramel and a sweet finish including notes of toffee and molasses. I thought this was still easily drinkable while maintaining quite a malt bill along the way. I very much enjoyed this one and wouldn’t mind having regular access to this. drywallman (228), Lake in the Hills, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2008 The aroma is of sweet malt and biscuits, as well as a slight coffee roast. A moderate amount of head and residual lacing was present. In my glass, the more than adequate carbonation was constantly present. The taste was very sweet with brown and turbanado sugars, and just enough malt to balance. A very faithful bock that you could drink maybe two of in a session. Nice and hearty. meisterbrauMHB (53), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is lots of caramel and some standard lagery yeast character. Flavor is nice and solidly malty. Mostly the caramel coming through with maybe a touch of chocolate. Nice and smooth, with a nice, slightly roasty and sweet finish. cblado (148), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2008 12 oz bottle, purchased from New Glarus Brewery in New Glarus, WI. Pours a deep mahogany color, significant tan head. Very nice lacing too, wasn’t expecting that. Aroma is of caramel malt with a sweet element too. Flavor is very malty, with a good nutty taste as well. Finishes with a sweet alcohol aftertaste. Palate feels soft and creamy. Overall a good hearty dunkler bock. Breworthy (14), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Aroma is maltacular. You can smell the emmensity of dark, roasted malt.
Appearance is great, clear and dark ambery red.
Flavor is strong, coffee, toffee overtones dominate your senses. Very caramel and super malty. A tiny alcohol tinge, which is odd because the bottle is labeled "beer."
Palate is great, not too chewy and effervesence is perfect, especially for the style and out of a bottle.
Overall, a good bock for what they are going for, a "hearty" bock. The malt isn’t too overpowering, but is definitely the stylistic focus. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2008 Pour is a nice looking dark brown to black but with a dark ruby red hue when held to the light. Head is a small dark tan that fades to lacing. Aroma thick in dried fruits and chocolate. Also some roasted malts. Flavor is well balanced of coffee, milk, chocolate, malts and barley. Palate is thick, smooth and warm. Aftertaste is coffee and dry. A very enjoyable beer. Strykzone (1478), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 8, 2008 Very dark brown with red highlights. One finger tan head that only lasts a couple of minutes. A very nice aroma of roasted nuts and dark fruit. Some milk chocolate as well. Delicious flavors of, again, milk chocolate, sugar, toffee, and mustiness. Some well hidden hops provide a nice zest. The feel is velvet with some zing and mild bitterness. I was sorry to see the bottom of the glass.
