Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, our heavyweight Quadruple tips the O.G. scales at 25 degrees P. Master Brewer, Daniel Carey, sourced the Brett yeast that boldly frames this refined and complex strong ale. First coddled in our Oak lager tanks and then slowly matured in bourbon barrels. This is a bold beer that sips like a refined cordial of nutmeg, dried cherries and vanilla. Perfect for lying down or sipping by the fire tonight. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers/unplugged belgian quad.html

Poured a clear orange color. Flavor was light, fruity, some honey, pear and apple, citrus even, hints of vanilla and cherry. Not the most complex or rich deep tasting quad I have ever had, but I enjoyed it.

Sampled from a 12oz bottle. Clear orange and rust colored body. Hoppy, spicy nose with some light bourbon and cracker scents with some honey as well, sharp and bourbon-like flavor with some sweet maple malt flavors as well. Good stuff, not really any yeast character that I could pick up, though.

Bottle courtesy of Juelze, thanks Ryan. Pours a copper color with a fairly substantial beige colored head, nice lacing. Aroma is fruity pear or apple, estery, oaky, and alcohol. Flavor is cherries, apple, brown sugar, hints of vanilla and alcohol. Palate is medium to full bodied, medium to highly carbonated, finishes on the sweet side, with some alcohol warmth. Very good, I have not tried the best Quads out there, so I did not quite know what to expect, but I liked it!

Pours an orange amber with smallish off-white head. Light fruit and spice aroma. Alright flavor, seems a little subdued. Can notice the alcohol, but it is well hidden.

Bottle shared at the Dilly Deli. Poured clear reddish amber with an averaqge white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy complex tart fuirt and herbs and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture. Heavy balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet and small alcohol burn finish of moderate duration. This is a standout beer.

12 oz bottle via trade with John. Pours a beautiful clear coppery orange color with a medium white head. Strong spicy apple cinnamon aroma. Taste is spicy with strong apple cinnamon flavor along with nutmeg and fresh yeast. Alcohol well hidden. Very tasty. I’m a big fan of the New Glarus unplugged series.

Relatively clear orange-red body, thin off-white head. Rather lifeless. Heavy aroma of light fruits (pear and apple in particular), spicy esters, bourbon, and alcohol. The body begins with sweet cherries, apple, and brown sugar, giving way to hot, prickly alcohol and bitter esters. A few sips are sufficient to coat the palate, reducing the alcohol heat, but the rawness of the beer is still evident. Complexity is lacking, particularly relative to the best Quads on the market. There are essentially two components to the flavor profile, one of sweet fruity malt, and the other of prickly alcohol and bitter spice. There is little discernible interplay among the elements, unfortunately. This may improve with age. Currently, I find it a bit hard to drink and "green."
