Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, our heavyweight Quadruple tips the O.G. scales at 25 degrees P. Master Brewer, Daniel Carey, sourced the Brett yeast that boldly frames this refined and complex strong ale. First coddled in our Oak lager tanks and then slowly matured in bourbon barrels. This is a bold beer that sips like a refined cordial of nutmeg, dried cherries and vanilla. Perfect for lying down or sipping by the fire tonight. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers/unplugged belgian quad.html

Thanks to brewblackhole for the bottle. Aroma is of light yeast, lots of apple, and caramel malt--and just a tinge of alcohol. Gorgeous golden brown appearance with a slight head. Medium to full palate. The taste is sweet fruity flavors which are balanced nicely by spicey yeast flavors and some wood tastes. The alcohol warmth tastes nice in the finish.

12 oz bottle, via Monger. Pours a perfectly clear copper colored body under a one finger foamy beige head. Thick curtains of heavy lacing remained. The aroma is very fruity and sweet with some peach, light spices, a little oak, moderate alcohol, and a bit of toffee. Flavor is very fruity and full of sweet malt initially, fading to a bourbon and oak laced alcoholic finish. Maybe a bit of suggestion after I read the label, but there is a nice cherry flavor. This is really missing the depth and complexity of the big Belgian Quads though. Mouthfeel is very full bodied and quite viscous with a little too much fizzy prickly carbonation. Very warming on the finish. Not my kind of Quad. This really reminded me of Avery Reverend and Founders Bad Habit, (although nowhere near as bad as Bad Habit), overly sweet with lots of alcohol. I’ll stick with the classics I think.

clear orange body with a small white head.the aroma blends up a beautiful mix of oak, brett, cherries, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, and allspice.flavor mixes up the aroma with some bananas, and belgian candy thrown in as well.although its different from any quad i have had from belgium, its still really, really good.

Nutty bourbon and oak nose with some mild spice notes. Some soft vanilla and fruit on the palate. Clean rich, complex and wonderfully drinkable.

New Glarus Unplugged Belgian Quadruple pours a beautiful clear, golden bronze/orange/copper color. There is a mild to moderate amount of visible carbonation and the head is small, foamy, and ivory in color. After the initial head disappears, the residual thin veil is stangnant with a faily thick ring around the edge. The first pass at the modestly sweet aroma reveals an alluring bouquet various fruits (including cherry), spice, bubblegum, and vanilla. From a distance, the sweet bourbon aroma is quite noteworthy and captures my attention, but it is only slightly detectable in closer proximity to the actually beer. The flavor contains a wonderful medly of various fruits (apples, cherry, grapes), subtle spice, oak/woody undertones, and warming, obvious alcohol (whisky-like). Overall the flavors are well-blended and mildly sweet with a balancing dryness in the finish. This beer has a soft, medium body. The mouthfeel is interesting as it is smooth and milky sometimes, but sticky at other times. I am quite pleased with this beer overall. I think it is a wonderful American interpretation of a Belgian Quad. I also this that this beer will cellar quite nicely. I look forward to experiencing another bottle of this in 6 months to a year or so... 12 oz bottle from buckybeer. Thanks for another great beer Mark! Keep ’em coming...

This was my first quad ever so forgive me. Pours like an IPA, but this is just to sweet for my tastes. Looks of differnt flavors happening for sure, can taste cherries for sure, as NG is a big fan of those. I can see how people like these, lots of flavor, just to sweet for me.

aroma makes me think of sugary sweet candied fruit. appearance is a fiery orange with a quick fading head. flavor is predominantly sweet candi sugar, but with undertones of candied fruit, oak and a faint hint of bourbon. I need to find a couple more bottles, cause me-thinks it will be better in a year or two. thanks to robert for the 12 oz. bottle.
