"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur's rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

Bottle - This beer just looks refreshing, with lots of carbonation in the yellowish Mountain Dew-looking liquid, topped with a bright white head. I can smell this sucker from across the bar: there’s vinegary sour fruit and red wine. Taste is of sour, tart apples, grapes, and dry champagne. It’s easy drinking except for the crazy carbonation that froths in the mouth. It gets in the way of the taste a bit, but otherwise I loved this beer.

Bottle. Big thanks to guerde. Pours hazy yellow golden, capped with a big white head. Nice aroma for the style, with notes of wheat, straw, lactic acid, and white grape. Flavor is wheat, straw, lemon, white grape, and mild lactate. Mild tartness lingers on the palate. Medium bodied and very refreshing. I wish it were a little more tart, but its tasty nonetheless.

A really well done Berliner. Though I figured this would be good I was stunned by this NG beer. Really nice tart beer without having to struggle with sourness.

Bottle into Duvel tulip; purchased at Jenifer Street Market, Madison. Pours with an initially large but dense head and a buttery banana cream aroma spilling forth so much that feet away you can smell it. A nose stuck in the glass finds spritzy champagne and sour apple and a dusty yeastiness I also smell in Cantillon beers. Almost opaque but transluscent enough to see lots of bubbles cascading to the surface. Dusting of white head with very dense, small-bubble lacing in arcs on the glass when you tip it. Light, lively, and sour from the first moment. Perfect carbonation level. The finish settles into sour apple very quickly with occasional resurgence of mouthwatering acidity under the tongue that has a balsamic character. Not that complex, but very delicious. A great sour beer.

Bottle thanks to thecheeseman, shared with angrypirate06 and ilovedarkbeer. Pours with a large white head that leaves great lace over a haze golden body. Aroma starts off sweet with wine and wheat, and then finishes slightly tart with notes of wood and honey. Taste is tart and then sort of cloyingly sweet with rotten grapes and wheat. I am not sure that the fruit actually helps the flavor at all. Light carbonation and a dry mouthfeel.

Bottle with bman1113vr and ilovedarkbeer. Poured a hazy gold color with a short lived white head. Funky aroma with smells of apples and butter. Had a pleasantly fizzy mouthfeel with a fruity sour taste.
