Commercial Description:

"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur’s rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of apple and lemon, light notes of detergent and metal, hint of wood. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly to moderately astringent. Some minor unpleasant notes in the nose, but otherwise ok. Have had this a few times, not a big fan. Passable.

From the bottle thanks to a Brian and Todd. I was pretty excited to try this, you don’t see many Berliner Weisses in the market. Light hazy yellow pour with a tall fizzy white head. Lemony sour nose, medium acidity. Soft wine acidic note and hints of citrus and cheese seem to come through. Really nice overall.

12oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Aromas of sweet lacto, citrus, and sour goodness. Flavors of sour citrus, yeast and wheat. This is my first Berliner and I must say, I heart it. Quite delicious!

Bottle. Body-looks like a Berliner Weiss-lightly hazy sharp gold with a medium ring of bubbles. Good looking Berliner Weiss. Nose-macro, wheat, light Band-Aid. Nose reminds me of a Pale Lager. Taste-medium sour, wheat, light citrus, sharp nice mouthfeel, dry, light Chardonnay, surprisingly good after the bad nose. Very solid. Beginning is Pale Lager, middle is greatness, and finish is Pale Lager.

Bottle via noncaloric, huge thanks! Pours a hazy, rich straw color, with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, musty, yeast, oak. Flavor is vineous, white grapes, oak, lemon zest, grapefruit, straw, wheat. Palate is medium to light bodied, champagne like, medium to high carbonation, finished dry, tart, and acidic. Awesome stuff, underrated!

Bottle from lb4lb - thanks! This one has a nice yellowish color with a sour/musty aroma that features a quality citrus/funky thing that really works. Flavor has a hint of oak and lots of citrus, sourness, and great acidity. Exactly what I want out of a Berliner Weiss.

Trade with noncaloric. Hazy pale yellow. Thin steady partial head. Sour aroma. Minimal other scents just lots of sour. Very sour flavour but hard to pick anything else out. A bit of a lemon perhaps and vinegar.

My bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of MrFacto. Pours a cloudy pale yellow-gold with an average size mostly-lasting fizzy white head. Aroma: Yup, that’s a Berliner Weisse alright: Tart, in a good way, along with citrus fruit, some pepper and wood. Flavour of sour and tart fruit, a hint of banana and some citrus -- it’s a bit champagne-like. Acidic and quite carbonated. Medium bodied. Very good and a nice version of the style.
