"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur's rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

From a 12oz Bottle. Somewhat hazy, golden straw colored pour with a whisper of white head. Aromas of creamy wheat, light lactic tartness, banana, and musty sour milk. Light bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel with a mild acidity. Flavors of creamy wheat, lemon, grapey sweetness, and an almost plastic like flavor. Body is slightly high for the style, making it interesting and funky, but not quenchingly quaffable. A little more tartness and a little less funk would be nice.

GABF’08. I was afraid this was not going to be good, some people with similar tastes were not impressed. I saved this for near the end of the fest. I was happy this was good. Aroma is actually rather strong for the style. Its very wheat thats a bit spicy. Lots of light tart and very lemony aspects coming through. Taste has a good amount of tart for the style, very clean and very crisp. Nice stuff. 8/3/8/3/16

re-rate: out of bottle. Oh so nice, there is a lot more dryness to it then I remember and the tartness of the beer is so beautifully wrapped around the other quaffable elements. Feels nice on the back of the throat with that dry light tartness. 8/3/8/4/17

Bottle. Slightly hazy, golden yellow pour with a medium head that disippated quickly. Tart aroma with hints of wheat and spice. Upfront tart flavor followed by notes of lemon, apple and wheat. Finishes dry. Interesting style. Very nice beer.

Hazy yellow color with white head. Lighlty soured citrus & wheat aroma. A similar flavor but with a light yeast bite. This was the first Berliner Weiss I ever tried with woodruff syrup and I must say it was a revelation. The faintest addition of syrup transforms the beer completely into something dangerously quaffable.

Sour from the start. Like drinking water from old pipes with some of those incredibly sour candies the kids eat today soaking in it. Either needed to be tarter, or less tart. Just kind of unappetising. I suppose this is supposed to be remminiscent of a really dry champagne, butI half expect to be sick.

Not my favorite style, pours a hazy pale straw with a thin white head. Kind of a tomato, vegital nose. The flavor is sweet on the front palate, but just fades away with very little else.
