Commercial Description:

"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur’s rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

Bottle shared by MaxxDaddy. Very doughy aroma, with nice grape, peach, lychee. Extremely thin body, not surprising for the style I guess but some manage to pull off some heft. Good tart up front, but a creamed corn kind of odd finish. Quite disappointing, especially for New Glarus.

Pours fairly heavily carbonated. Light, yeasty, vinous aroma. Pretty tart with a very ephemeral graininess. Almost champagne-like fine bubbles. Perfect for hot weather.

Big thanks to General Gao for this 12 oz. Foggy, burnt orange with a large meringue cap. Spots of lace. Citrus-yeast and slight resin in the aroma. Flavors of acidic-sour yeast, wheat and lemon-orange zest dominate some slight grape and pear notes. Light-medium body is bubbly and dry. Dead-on for the style; just not a big fan of white wine, fizz, and super tart-n-sour beers.

(12oz bottle) Pours a clear pale yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of lemon, banana, wheat, and grass. Flavor of lemon, wheat, and dough with a dry finish.

12oz Bottle.Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/26049401@N08/3808 Into my B.W. bowl, the beer pours forth a soft salt of almond croissant, scotch-like tang, and sea oats. Some wheat and certain lactic acid bleed through. Delightful and complex. Pours a very clear straw gold, with a creamy soap of white lacing nicely. Flavor is rich and developed, but marred by a weird edge of plastic. This starts off with a lot interesting lactic character, bordering on lambic funk, but maintaining that spritzy wheat sugar throughout. Selzter carbonation carries flavor well. My gums pucker in acidic delight. Plastic-like off flavor seems to have faded. Otherwise, a nice dense, well-balanced B.W. shines through. I’m not sure I really gather a lot of the fruit sense, it’s pretty subtle and well integrated. There’s something to be said for that. Certainly it lends to the complexity and density. Five yeast strains, wow? I would have guessed 3, but I’m wondering what else is in here. A great beer. Thanks much Sean!

12 oz bottle shared at toncatcher’s place. Golden pour with big head. Aroma of lightly sour yeast and malt. Flavor was tart wheat twang that was pretty good. Better of the style.

Pours light golden with a light white head. Aroma is nice barnyard funk, sour, and light fruitiness. Flavor is refreshing and tart with a light earthy undertone that adds a little complexity. Finishes clean and tart and makes it hard to stop drinking. Solid brew. Must get more.
