Commercial Description:

"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur’s rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

Thanks to Ken for this one. Mostly clear yellow body, a white head dissipates quickly. Light wheat aroma featuring a subdued citrus sour note. Predominantly a wheaty malt aroma. The flavor is a nice tart lemon, a bit of a barnyard like flavor shows in the back. Grapes become evident midway through.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Stine. Thanks, Eben! Pours a medium, hazy straw color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Very nicely tart, lemony, and husky wheat aroma; crisp, refreshing, and not overly acidic; really nice nose. Loads of tart lemon, solid acidity, and light wheatiness upfront; very light, crisp, and refreshing Berliner Weisse; some touches of floral notes and lime appear; toasty and crisp. Medium finish: nicely tart, light wheatiness, and plenty of citrus; dry, crisp, lovely.

Courtesy of kmweaver. Hazy very pale body with a small white head. The nose is slightly dusty, with some light citrus and honey. The flavor is moderately tart, fairly dry with lemon, yogurt and a bit of dirty yeast. Light body is moderately carbonated and refreshing.

Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of hay, leather, some wild yeast, lemon, green apple, toast, almonds, and light sweetness. Taste of citrus, tart wheat, lemons, strong green apple, and a lightly sour finish. I’m thinking there is too much green apple here.

Bottle. Aroma champagny with grapes. Flavor quite sour and citric with those grapes, lemons, and pineapple. Super drinkable and super tasty. Philosophically I would rather the beer people leave the grapes for wine and let the wheat shine, but I can’t argue with the result.

Bottle courtesy of iowaherkeye (thanks Joey!). Pours a light yellow gold with no real head. Aroma of faint sourness. Flavor is tart, sweet, and sour. Lots of grapes make this rather champagne-like (but fruitier). Initial spritzy carbonation, wheat finish. Delicate mouthfeel and sour. Very tasty.

Bottle courtesy of thecheeseman. Pours light straw color with minimal head. Slightly sour, fruity aroma. Flavor is also slightly sour with some lemon, wheat and spices. Light body with champagne-like carbonation. NIce and refreshing.

Pours a light hazy blonde. The head is pretty with big bubbles but goes away and leaves a champagne like carbonation. Aromas are lightly funky and fruity. The grapes add to the flavor of this very nicely and the overall flavor is dry with a nice sourness. Another triumph from the unplugged series.
