Commercial Description:

"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur’s rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

Fantastic lemon sour flavor, along with some other citrus, light vinegar, and a tart finish. Light body that is nicely carbonated. Great!

Pours a hazy orange yellow color with a thin white head and a fair bit of carbonation. Aroma is a little vinegar, a little white wine, some citrus like something you’d really like to use to cook fish. Flavor is almost perfectly tart, like a big glass of musty lemonade, or a really nice dry cider. This is a damn fine beer.

07/08/09 Pours pale gold with a 1 finger creamy white head that has great retention. Aroma is vinegar, crap apple, nettles, musty wood, lemon and some grainy notes. Flavor is tart green apple, fresh oak, herbal notes, a hint of grain, sour grapes, white (not ripe) mullberries and lemon. Finish is walnut skin and spicy/peppery yeast with a dusty grain note at the very end. Palate is thin, dry, crisp and has a champagne like carbonation. Really good brew, not as good as the other Unplugged brews I have had, but damn fine. I have a couple of bottles left that I will have to save for a while to re-rate. Re-rate- 07/21/09: Kicked the score up 0.2, after drinking another bottle I decided the flavor and overall impression deserved a little more love.

Still wondering what the AB of this beer is... Pours a cloudy yellow with a rush of stark white head. Very tart, sour aroma. Tart sour apple taste with some lingering sourness. This is at least an interesting beer, since I’ve never had a berliner weisse before. It’s not as refreshing as I would have assumed, though

Bottle, yo. Pours a lovely almost-clear gold with a short-lasting white head. Aroma of grain and sourness. Flavor of sour apple, lemon and cereal with a crisp finish. Moderately sour, but still very drinkable. My first berliner weiss!
