Commercial Description:
Sublimely elegant this toffee toned bock is rich with a blend of Wisconsin and German barley malts. Over four months of resting in oak bourbon barrels gives this beer a wonderfully smooth body that will improve and mellow with age. Should you choose to enjoy this classic today, you can expect a treasure of vanilla, oak and carmel notes to be bolstered by hops from France, Slovenia and Germany. Wild Brett yeast sings in harmony to the tune of Bock. 20 degrees Plato OG makes this bourbon barrel a masterwork to remember.

12 oz bottle. Clear copper with a slight tan head. Very bourbony oak nose, vanilla, sweet malt and nondescript fruit. Spicy flavors with bourbon and wood in the fore. Caramelly base, vanilla and brown sugar. Complex, but seems to lack integration. Sweet finish, sugary fruit, bourbon and a wisp of smoke.

This was incredible! The aroma is of a very sweet bourbon and some fruits as well. There is very little head and what there is disappears quickly. The taste is if a very pure bourbon without the alcoholic bite. As stated below, it gets better and more tasteful as it gets warmer. Purchased at the bodega in LaCrosse, WI.

I absolutely loved this beer. It smelled of bourbon and some cherry. As it sat and got warmer it tasted better. Would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Pours the color of an oolong tea, glorious. Aroma, to quote Boboki, is redolent of a pumpkin pie, slightly hiding a vanilla, oak, caramel, sweet cream back bone. Flavor is more of the same, but with the faintest wisp of acidity.

Clear rufous. Thick tiny-bubbled ring of head is all that remains after a vigorous pour. Overtly fruity aroma contains strong notes of plums and overripe peaches. Hint of vanillin oak, caramelized sugar, chocolate and oxidation (cardboard). Soft carbonation. Caramelized sugars grip the palate and are lifted by a plump well-rounded vibrant peach acidity. Very slippery – borderline syrupy – and poorly attenuated, with a hint of acetaldehyde/green apple. High concentration of honey-drenched plums saturates the core. Trace oxidation deadens some of the brightness and imparts a touch of graininess to an otherwise overbearingly slick body. Oak is much more apparent in flavor than texture, though it does provide enough grip to partially lift the residual sweetness. Alcohol creeps in and warms the gullet just as the toffee-like Munich malt takes foothold. Explosively plummy esters are tempered by rich, well-textured malts and a lightly coarse kiss of oak. Finishes dull with oxidation and an array of overripe peaches and plums which are accompanied by a bite of raw and pungent oak. Rather odd example of a bock, as it lacks cleanness and is heavily fruity. Regardless of style, the oak comes off as a bit raw and the fruitiness obscures the malts. Ho hum.

Bottle: Coppery, moderate foamy sand colored head, minor lacing.   Total marshmallow, rice krispy treat nose.   Minor Oak and Bourbon.   Never had a beer to smell like the old Snap, Crackle, Pop!   Minor alcohol is present.   I can see the underlying Bock being there, but its a bit overpowered by everything else.   Wow, yeah, total rice krispy treats.   Actually, this isn’t as Bourbony as I would have thought.   Very very slight band-aid is noticeable.   I thought this would be a bit sharper, a bit more oak, and generally a bit more Bourbony.   Its there, but its very subtle.   The damn marshmallow factor is really heavy.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Its so funny that it is so blatantly smelling like rice krispy treats.   Damn, I wish I had some right now.   If you want Marshmallows, this is your beer.   Not as Bourbon oriented as I would have thought.   Still decent, for a bock at least.   Bourbon wise its a let down.   Clean tho, and certainly a malty beer.   I think this one is a bit over-rated.   Thanks Chris!
