Commercial Description:
Sublimely elegant this toffee toned bock is rich with a blend of Wisconsin and German barley malts. Over four months of resting in oak bourbon barrels gives this beer a wonderfully smooth body that will improve and mellow with age. Should you choose to enjoy this classic today, you can expect a treasure of vanilla, oak and carmel notes to be bolstered by hops from France, Slovenia and Germany. Wild Brett yeast sings in harmony to the tune of Bock. 20 degrees Plato OG makes this bourbon barrel a masterwork to remember.

12 oz bottle. Poured medium amber color a bit lighter then I had expected. Certainly lighter then NG Uf da boch. Thin white head. Aroma of bourbon but amazingly it was very light in the flavor. Sweet plum fruity flavors instead. A slight oak finish. Pretty good.

Bottle. Murky cherry red pour with little to no head. Aroma of bready malt, a bit of raisin, vanilla, booze, some oak, and toffee. Flavors are strong with bourbon and oak...which one would think you’d get this with any BBA brew, but not so. A lot of times I notice lots of bourbon with very little woodiness...this one though is a bit more even in that department. Along with these flavors is sweet yet delicate toffee/caramel malts, dark fruits, a hint of roast and some brett in there as well, which is different but in the most awesome way...cuts some of the sweetness along with the woody characteristic. Medium body with a sharp/yet subtle carbonation...boozey/oaky/bittersweet/malty/tangy a oaky/bourbon/earthy/roast finish. Nice range of flavors, and a neat take/twist to the dopplebock. One of the better BBA brews I’ve had in recent months...a bit underrated if you ask me.

Transparent brown pour has a thin white head. Nose is rich and robust with a strong toffee-sweet character of caramel, light roast, and whiskey oak. Palate is, alas, a bit thin and does not support the overall flavor. The flavor, however, is excellent with many of the bock flavors of caramel, chocolate, and toffee balanced and mellowed nicely by the barrel-aging and bourbon notes. The flavor and richness of this brew are truly remarkable, but they are not matched by the body that supports it.

Bottle. A hardy brew. Nose is a lightly vinegary, boozy blackberry syrup. Flavor is less sweet, much more oak, butter, and chicken stock or something. I could actually imagine this beer being good mulled to 130 or so.

Poured a medium orange red with a clingy off-white head lace. Strong bourbon aroma with some dark fruits present. Flavor not as strong on the bourbon as I had expected. Also notes of black cherries, plums, and prunes present with a nice dry oaky finish.

Bottle from Juelze. Thanks. I knew Ryan was sending me this but I didnt know it was an unplugged series beer. Smell is sweet and full of sugar and mostly just bourbon. Poured it and it had a large head on it, and by the time I sat down it was gone, looked like a 3 day old beer in my glass. Taste was sweet and like drinking Beam. Didnt really care for this one, as is not the norm from this brewery. Too sweet, too much bourbon, and not really balanced at all.

Bottle from buckybeer. Light clear amber color with no head. Aroma of wood, caramel and sourness. The taste was lightly sweet with sour notes mixed in. light caramel flavor in the finish. Not bad.

12oz bottle thanks to my mother in law. Aromas of vanilla, wet wooden barrels, and alcohol. Amberbody with thin head that alcohol content disipated quickly. Thick caramel body texture holds back some of tha alcohol but not all. Mild sweetness along with bourbon flavors present. Warms the body and on a rainy day in the desert was right beer to have at the time..
