Aroma is rauch malts, smoked meat, carmelized pear, red fruit, and brown sugar. Toasted caramelized flavors with lots of fruit. Some alcohol, a little cough syrupy with that fruit, and bakers chocolate. Finishes dry. Nice dopplebock interpretation. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 26, 2007 12 oz via trade a while back this one prob from KingpinIPA or Ughmash or someone, whoever thanks. Pours Red/orange with a half finger tan head. Nose is full of bourbon and oak, that really pops into the nostrils. A bit of vanilla and cream are subtley also there. Taste is sweet, matly, bourbony smooth and damn nice. Bourbon is omniprescent but is blended in a nice way. joverton85 (80), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 24, 2007 wonderful beer. the bourbon really jumps out at you and is slightly over whelming but mellows out as you drink. wonderful vanilla flavor, and classic caramel dopplebock taste. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Pours a clear burnt amber color with a quickly disappearing head of tan. I’m left with a still glass of amber in no time. Aromas of cinnamon, vanilla, licorice, and some ripe black cherries. Flavors cling to the palate with sticky characteristics of vanilla, cinnamon oil, some shaved coconut, and a hint of maple. Brett is added per the label notes, but I rarely detect any must or funk. Boozy aftertaste as my gullet is warmed with each sticky sip. Quiet carbonation lends a full, thick feel. Brewso (238), Mt Kisco, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 22, 2007 I am a hophead and I love this beer. This solidifies for me that what I truly love is beer and that hops are a dimension of this love but not its essence. I realize there are "hops" in here but what is showcased is layered sweet and cherry tart malt with oak and vanilla fumes. I also realize that the category "appearance" is based on what I THINK good beer should look like. What the hell do I know? The appearance is the same as Leinies Red! This defied expectations. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 22, 2007 12 oz bottle. Hazy dark tan with a full off-white head. A lot of vanilla in the nose with hints of oak. Very, very smooth drinking. Picked up vanilla, oak, and carmel. It’s very smooth with only a very small hint of an alcohol bite. cbkschubert (2002), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2007 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - Pours a slightly hazy deep copper color with a 1/2 finger thick off white head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is awesome! Full of oak/bourbon and vanilla. There is not much else I can detect. That’s fine with me though. Flavor is also oak/bourbon, but has an underlying malt flavor to it. A very unique flavor. Medium to full body. Has a slight lingering bourbon aftertaste. I will admit, the bourbon barrel aging dominates this beer. However, it’s still pretty darn good. Thanks Bill.
