Commercial Description:
Sublimely elegant this toffee toned bock is rich with a blend of Wisconsin and German barley malts. Over four months of resting in oak bourbon barrels gives this beer a wonderfully smooth body that will improve and mellow with age. Should you choose to enjoy this classic today, you can expect a treasure of vanilla, oak and carmel notes to be bolstered by hops from France, Slovenia and Germany. Wild Brett yeast sings in harmony to the tune of Bock. 20 degrees Plato OG makes this bourbon barrel a masterwork to remember.

It looks like cola - highly filtered and reddish-brown. Tasty, rich malty flavor. The bourbon comes through, but it is not "hot" or burning. The alcohol/bourbon barrel aging barely shows up at all in the aroma. It is actually quite sugary and sweet, almost like corn syrup, again like cola. Overall it seems to taste like a rum and coke rather than a beer.

Bottle at ØLbaren (Rene). Clear amber - white head. High sweetness, honey, bourbon, raisins, caramel, light vanilla, woody, sharp bourbon alcoholic taste and finish.

I am giving it a good score because I know that it is a good beer, but I personally didn’t enjoy it that much. Much too strong of a whiskey taste for me. I enjoy beer that tastes like beer not a shot. Sorry.

Bottle courtesy after4ever. Thanks again! Pours clear copper with a thin off-white head. Very light aroma or caramel and vanilla, or maybe my palate hasn’t recovered from the last beer? Full sweet body. The barrel aging shows up early in the taste with vanilla, and late in the dry, woody finish. This is a nice sipper.

12-oz. Thanks, MrFacto! Pours still dark amber with very minimal head. Big toffee, caramel, and vanilla nose. Medium body, softish carb, sweet-forward flavors. Little bits of toast and burnt leaves in the midst of all that sweet, but not too many of those little bits, alas. Very light finish.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Sk8viking, session @ Ølbaren] This really was this evening’s big surprise. Nice fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Clear flat looking body with a reddish glow to the amber color. The sniff was thick and very complex with notes of berries, bourbon, wood, hint of sour notes, caramel, wheat, fruit and vanilla. Very lovely and complex aroma. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and a light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavor with light sour notes and a hint of bitterness. Warming bourbon like malty lingering finish. Wow René that was a great experience. Thanks again buddy!
