Commercial Description:
Sublimely elegant this toffee toned bock is rich with a blend of Wisconsin and German barley malts. Over four months of resting in oak bourbon barrels gives this beer a wonderfully smooth body that will improve and mellow with age. Should you choose to enjoy this classic today, you can expect a treasure of vanilla, oak and carmel notes to be bolstered by hops from France, Slovenia and Germany. Wild Brett yeast sings in harmony to the tune of Bock. 20 degrees Plato OG makes this bourbon barrel a masterwork to remember.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours amber/orange clear with a little lacing head. Bourbon aroma, slight malty. Sweet flavour with an underlying bourbon flavour lifting the mellowness a bit higher. Slight acidic flavour. Quite nicely balanced.

Bottle and served in my Ratebeer tulip: Light mahogany hue with a fading fizzy head, the small ring left some lace on the glass. The aroma has lush caramel and toffee malt, pomegranate, vanilla and oak, and some spicy esters. The bourbon itself is there but seems restrained.

The taste starts with layers of sweet (and even a tad peated) malts over ripened fruits and some nutty cereal. The midsection is where the Bourbon barrel shows most with lot of vanilla and boozy goodness (again not overpowering). The finish is where you find some oak and just a beginning of some brett twang and funk. Just keeps giving me a new flavor profile with each sip, Brilliant!

The mouth feel is sprite and aggressive with a mild warming upon the chest, slightly dry finish. This is a rocking beer with lots of depth and expression. GET YA SOME, #100 Rating for the Dan Carey masterpiece.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with no head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, light caramel, grapes, and wild yeast. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium thin mouthfeel taht finishes dry and vinous with a mild amount of bitterness. Very good.

Pours a ruby clear with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and bourbon spices. Flavor is smooth and malty, layers of toffee and caramel. Light-medium body. A little alcohol warmth and fruitiness backed up by bourbon spices and oaky vanilla notes. Quite delicious.

This dopplebock pours a medium brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is bourbon, some oak and sweet caramel malts. A medium bodied Dopple. The malts are sweet, with lots of toffee and caramel flavors; there is also a hint of oak and a very small touch of tartness. The hops are earthy and floral. The bourbon barrel adds some sweetness, some oak and some bourbon flavors to this beer. The malts sweetness is balanced somewhat by some tartness and a very small touch of funk. Very nicely balanced. There is a touch of alcohol presence in this one. A sipping beer for sure, but very nice indeed. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a touch of alcohol bite.

Bottle (trade with Ofortuna). Buttery toffee, cherry/apple and alcohol aroma. Clear reddish brown with minimal head. Sweet cherry, vanilla, and apple are the intial flavors followed by a slightly bitter alcohol flavor. Very nice aftertaste of malt and bourbon and leaves the lips numb. A bit of harshness from the alcohol level but a great beer.
