Commercial Description:
Seventh in our series, this is Dan's Gold Medal winning "Unplugged Cherry Stout." This ale is aged in Oak barrels to promote the spontaneous fermentation. Eight Wisconsin malted barleys combined with Wisconsin Montmorency Cherries make for a complex and sublime taste experience that you may never find again.

Thanks to the person who sent me thisone. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of cherries, caramel, some bourbony elements. Tastes strongly of cherries in typical NG fashion with lots of sweet malt and cognac in the background. Very unusual!

Deep reddish colour with a small tan head. Malty, light tart fruity aroma with chocolate and yeasty notes. Malty, fruity flavor with a light yeasty note and a light tart finish.

Thanks to ughsmash for this brew. Pours out a deep brown with a small tan head that just hangs on the top of the beer. Aroma is of cherry, spice and some roast. Complex with a velvety mouthfeel. Cherries come through with some chocolate, roasted malt and some slightly sour notes on the finish. This beer is the marriage of so many flavors from so many styles, I’m truly impressed

Bottled. Very dark brown coloured with a small head. Kinda christmassy - notes of cloves, coriander, cardamom, balsamico, cherry and almonds. Slightly sour and sweet at the same time. Slightly parfumed.

12 oz bottle thanks to JHop. Definitley something different. Aromas of sour cherry and hints of chocolate come off this dark brown pour with a tan head. Flavor was more cherry with a strange roasty flavor. Roasted Lambic? I don’t know... sweeter than that, but odd really odd. Interesting enough to be good.

Dense light brown head of fine bubbles. Creamy on top. Nice sour cherry aroma with some oak, and roasted grains. Soft aroma with a hint of vanilla. Color is a very nice dark port. Medium bodied with more cherry flavor (sweet and not sour) with some roasted grains, a hint of vanilla again and some milk chocolate. Cherry flavor makes the mouth salivate. Tastes just like a chocolate covered cherry with some kind of liquor inside. Finish is sweet and juicy. Another great fruit beer from New Glarus. Man can these guys do fruit.

A deep red beer with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood, combined with a slight acidity and notes of berries. The flavor is sweet and at the same time acidic with strong notes of wood and lesser notes of berries, leading to a dry end.

Bottle. Pours a very dark red hue with a red/tan head. The carbonation is very easily noticed. Strong notes of bourbon are in the nose, dry oak, sturdy vanilla. I’m not picking up a lot of cherries in the aroma. It definitely comes out more in the flavor. The cherry taste is pretty huge, but nowhere near the level of their Belgian red. The finish brings out more oak and a medium sourness that one might find in a Lambic beer. I don’t see how this is a stout at all. I like this much better than their Belgian cherry brew.
