Commercial Description:
This Eisbock was lagered a full year and then frozen to incomparable smoothness. This is a big and complex beer, suitable for laying down or consuming immediately, serve at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. A few times a year, we will cut Dan Carey loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, UNPLUGGED. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. Eisbock is the first of our Unplugged series of beers.

Dark ruby/copper body with a small off-white head that exited quickly. Nose held notes of sweet malts, molasses, nuts, alcohol, wood casks, and dried fruit. Smooth and full in the mouth. The flavor was rich and deep, more in the barleywine style, encorporating nicely the elements of the aroma.

Clear deep ruby pour with a light ring of head around the edge of the glass. Aroma is sweet with dark fruits and molasses. A little bit thin on the mouthfeel and finish. Flavor had some raisins, caramel, various sweet malts, and bread. Finish is nutty with some plums and a hint of alcohol. Man.. I should’ve read Pailhead’s post... this beer is much better when you give it a chance to warm.. Wateriness goes away, and the flavor & body get bolder and much fuller. Finish gets sweeter as it warms.

Bottle from Styles. Very clear, deep ruby-brown in color with a light brown head that fades to a ring. Good lacing. Aroma is very rich, molasses, bread and dark fruit are all there. Medium bodied to full. Palate fades a bit in finish, lightly coats the tongue and palate. Alcohol is there but not overwhelming. Nicely malty, residual sugar abounds, molasses with an ample hop dosing to keep things in balance. Nicely done.

Deep mahogany color. Liquor esthers. Virutally no head. Strong malt presence. Slight bitter finish. A lot going on with this, don’t know if I’ve had anything like this before, but it was enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours medium amber w/ fizzy white head. Alcohol, prunes, plums and raisins in the nose. Small chocolate taste and semi watery.

12 oz. Bottle: Amber in color, poured a rapidly diminishing white head, lots of carbonation present throughout the body of this beer. Aromas of super sweet rich malts (raisens, prunes). Flavor doesn’t disappoint with the malts again taking front stage, sweet fruits and caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel was a bit light, I missed the mouthcoating that I enjoy.

I really dig the label and the red foil, nice touch. Pours a clear red with some white head that dissipated rather quickly. Nose is very big with a lot of malt and some smoky wood and sherry. Very rich with lots of raisin present. Not too sweet either. Not much else to say, as the beer finishes somewhat thin and watery. The nose is defintely stronger. Thick mouthfeel, with some faint hop bitterness at the end. Eh.
