Commercial Description:
This Eisbock was lagered a full year and then frozen to incomparable smoothness. This is a big and complex beer, suitable for laying down or consuming immediately, serve at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. A few times a year, we will cut Dan Carey loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, UNPLUGGED. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. Eisbock is the first of our Unplugged series of beers.

Bottle, thanks to ClarkVV (the DD). Fantastic aroma of brown suggaa, molasses, toffee, raisins, etc, that reminds me of the great doppels and eisbocks from Germany. Big malty flavor with raisins, brown sugar again, figs, prunes. Very smooth and well conditioned. This is very nicely made. I wish it was available in NJ.

Bottle. Thanks ClarkVV. Deep brown in color with a nice tan head. Malty. Roasty chocolate notes. Very smooth. Complex. Caramel, fruity flavors. Full bodied. Well balanced beer. Thick palate. Alcohol is very noticable. Creamy malt consistency. Rich. Enjoyable brew. Nice.

Thanks JPDIPSO. This is a good Eisbock. Caramel, malty, and dark fruit flavors. Finishes bittersweet, chewy, and rich.

Bottle. Thanks to joeybgood for this! Hazed copper with a small tan head. Nose is wafts of alcohol, rich malts, fruit (banana and plums), caramel and brown sugar. Taste is very sweet and malty with light spice, more fruity notes, alcohol, and caramel. Body is thick and chewy. Mild carbonation and very slick feeling. Finishes with more alcohol, rich, creamy malts, fruity esters, and caramel. NICE!

Pours dark brown with a tiny off-white head. Glints of ruby when I hold it up to the light. Very pretty. Arom of caramel and an earthy plum. Flavor is sweet nutty caramel changing to more of a roasted chocolate finish that is very lightly bitter. Mmmm Malty. The flavor lasts. Full body, oily texture, very smooth. I really like this beer right now.

Eisbock darkness with minimal head and apple carbonation. Aroma of Kahlua, vanilla, prunes and sweet malty heaven. Flavor is sweetish, chewy and vanilla spiced. Raisins, grapes, and alcohol with a smooth palate. Not quite as complex or flavorful as Kulmbacher, but very good.

Poured brown with a small off white head. Aroma was malty and fruity. Caramel, raisin, and peach. Flavors follow the aroma with the sweet malt and fruitiness. Medium to full bodied and sticky.

2002 bottle HUGE thanks to heemer77 for this one. Man I love eisbocks and this one was fantastic. After a night of pale lagers, crappy winter ales and overall boring, severely undermalted beers this one really saved the day. I don’t particularly feel the need to write my typical 2 page review, I’d rather just enjoy the goodness of this beer. Caramel/toffee, dates and raisins in the nose, with sweet molasses and yeast esters. Strong and malty, chewy, with some light syrupiness and touches of spice. Lightly sour yeast, fruit notes and a clean, flavorful lager finish. The oldest eisbock I’ve had at 2 years of age. One of the better filtered/pasteurised beers Ive had in a while, but somehow, I can handle lagers better when filtered. Glad I have another bottle.
