| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2004 Bottle into tulip glass; purchased at Discount Licquor (Milwaukee). Dope. Smelled of malty and slightly yeasty deliciousness. Poured a warm dark red with very little frothy head which fully diminished quickly. Looked like warm Christmas cider. If only it had more head, the appearance would have been a 5. Taste was primarily a maltiness and freshly baked bread, but underneath there was a grab bag of fruits: cherry, grape, very un-sour lime. It was like a combination of a doppelbock and a Belgian strong. The alcohol was noticable, which makes me think this has a fairly high abv. There are soft hops on the end, a nice touch to the finish; they add an interesting tang. Smooth and medium bodied with barely noticable carbonation; a perfect mouthfeel for the flavor palate of this beer. Great effort from New Glarus. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2004 Nice ruby red with burgandy bubbles. Just sweet enough with ample cinnamon and spice. Vaporish finish due to alcohol gives this an etherial quality. I might rate this higher if I was more a fan of the style. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 3, 2004 The first eisbock I have really enjoyed. The beer pours from the bottle with a dark brown, ruddy body and no head. This smells of apple sourness, cinnamon and malt. The taste is apples, cinnamon and raisins. As the beer warms, it becomes more bready and malty. Excellent. I would like to age a few of these. Not disgustingly sweet as the couple of other eisbocks I have had. New Glarus continues to impress me. hopscotch (5543), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2004 Crystal clear, copper ale with a large, fizzy, khaki-colored head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel, licorice and sweat. Well-balanced flavor with blasts of dried plum and molasses. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, astringent finish. TChrome (1303), Bedford, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 23, 2004 Beer pours deep rich ruby red color with an off white head that completely dissipates. This beer exhibits low carbonation. Aroma is rich, with lots of candy sugar, dark dried fruit, and alcohol. Nice flavor of dried fruit, sweet, and alcoholic. Alcohol is not overbearing, however. Bit of dryness in the finish. This is yummy. dins (267), Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2004 This beer pours a garnet color that was crystal clear. Small head that laced well for its size. Aroma is sweet and alcoholic. Actually it smells very, very sweet...quite enticing. Flavor starts sweet, like red grapes and caramel, then finishes with a light bitterness that really works well in this beer. Body is medium and slightly sticky.
