| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 12, 2005 Very clear dark red amber out of the bottle with very little beige head, with a very small cascade of bubbles that lasted to the end of the glass. Lots of dark malt sweetness in the nose with chocolate cake and bacon. This beer is much better as it warms. Dark fruit sweetness with raisen and ripe plum. Some chocolate, ash and coffee in the finish. Tastey beer. hippie4beer (162), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Red-amber color with a thin head. Aroma is strong with notes of chocolate, spice, and a smoke. Flavor is hugely sweet, with spices and an alcohol finish. Full bodied silky palate. This was great! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2005 12oz. bottle. Strong aroma, bready, doughy and sweet, plenty of licorice to be found alongside a blend of toffee, grainy, toasty malts, and dark, candyish sugars with just a hint of chocolate. Medium amber-crown color, slightly hazy with a fine, sparse, tan head. Pleasantly massive flavor profile is likewise sweet, dark, bready and doughy with hints of date and finishes with a blend of spice and alcohol. Smooth, slick, expansive mouthfeel with an appropriately full body. All about the malts, this one, but quite satisfying, ultimately. Thanks Chris! Firemoose15 (542), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 20, 2005 HUGE thanks to firemoose15 for sharing his bottle with me. great aroma, raisins, cherries, chocolate and scotch permeate every bit of my nose. the flavors are just as complex as the aroma, lots of chocolate and raisin, some scotch and a bit of grittiness in the mouthfeel that make the flavors just hold up on your tounge and linger in your mouth. alot of nice yumminess going on here, and absolutely no abv at all in flavors or aftertaste. this was an outstanding beer in every aspect. thanks a ton melvin for letting me steal half the bottle. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 18, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Footbalm: Man am I glad I’m getting a few more of these in a trade! Pours ruby red with a faint but stubborn tanish ring of bubbles around the glass. Smells of nuts, brandy, scotch, toffee and cherries waft from the glass. Tastes nutty with toffee, butterscotch, scotch, and a touch of raisins and apricots. Mouthfeel is buttery and semi-flat. The alcohol is very well masked in this one. I hope they do another batch eventually as this stands alongside their rasberry fruit beer and cherry fruit beer. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2005 Oh, immediate smell of a bock, malty and sour. Poured a foggy auburn brown with not much of a head. Nose was malt-sweet-with raisins and fruit. Well, the taste, My first thought was a fizzy prune juice, dark and complex. Then this hit the tongue and throat...warming.... As this settled and warmed there was some roasted notes. This was a real experience and I would love to try this again. Thanks to Heemer77! Ohh, my first retired brew!! all right!
