Pours garnet with a finely foamed off-white head. Mildly sour aroma - like apple. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavor is beautifully, mildly sour. Followed by apple and cherry. Tickles the rear undersides of the tongue. Mouth smacking. Wood, kandi, maybe cinnamon. Or not. Fan fuckin tastic. Notice how taste and tastic kind of relate? Here they do. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

Pours a reddish brown. Aroma is big sour cherry and some spice with a hint of nuts or chocolate? Hard to define. Flavor is really big. Nice thick body almost porter like. Makes me wonder what the base beer was. Big cherry flavor. Only moderately sour but so incredibly drinkable. Drank this right before RR Beautification and this was the winner hands down. Really well done. Davinci (296), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Thin brown pour with thin head. Aroma is sweet and almost minty, some citrus in there. Some baking spices in there. Flavor is pretty oxidized, sweet and sour with some baking spice type flavors. Not awful, but definitely passed its prime.

Aroma is fruity, tart, wet wood, funky earth, and some apples. Flavor is a bit sour but not crazy vinegar sour. Tart cherries, dry, earthy...pretty damn good. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a muddy, reddish brown color with very little apparent carbonation. A few bubbles and swirls form momentarily but this one looks almost completely flat after a few moments. Aroma shows significant acidic elements, balsamic notes with some maraschino cherry underneath. Surprised the cherry is so evident and still there. It’s definitely a sweeter cherry aroma, not the sour cherry usually associated with this style. Apple notes also prevalent, similar to NG’s Apple ale though obviously in a different context. The apple might even be more intense than the cherry. Brett and funk not evident, just acid. Soft vanilla oak notes also add a nice touch and blend nicely with aforementioned elements.
The flavor is apple-like as well with just a moderate amount of tartness. Intensely sour this is not. Some maltiness is also present making this pretty balanced all around. Decent body with a fuller, softer mouthfeel than some other drier sour beers. I’d actually like this to be a bit more sour. I don’t know if this ever was and it’s just faded but at this point it’s pretty dull with respect to sourness. Not that it’s a dull or bad beer. The fresh fruit aroma and the creamy mouthfeel are the high points of this beer. This is somewhat reminiscent of Cuvee de Tomme if I had to compare it to anything. I think this is quality and I wish they’d release it again so I can try it fresh. SamGamgee (1456), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA

Hazy brown color. super spiced apple pie aroma. The flavor was also very spicy apple pie with a sweet doughty crust. There is a hint of tartness that adds to the apple quality, but is barely there on its own. Very smooth and mellow. I had no idea what this was, but iowaherkeye was sitting next to me and claimed that it was one of his favorite beers so I had to give it a go. Very nice stuff and totally unlike anything I’ve ever had.
