| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 A tart and slightly bitter aroma, like that of orange pith. The head is light and frothy; hue is somewhere between pale orange and maple.
Remarkably complex flavor, tasting strongly of ripe peach, butterscotch, and a great deal of hops. Finish is long and somewhat sour, reminding one of tangerine.
Would do best as a dessert beer perhaps along side an exceptionally dark chocolate. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2008 12 oz, Pours to a great sparkling pillowy soft head that really shimmers in the light. Great gold color with a nice haze to it that makes it look delicious. Recedes to a millimeter thick head with some lacing. Smells of banana, bubble gum, small amounts of hops and spices. Taste is crisp wheat and spices, bubbley and alive. Great weizen. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2008 Opaque yellow, with not much head. Woody, slightly citrusy hop nose with some banana and light nutmeg. Fun- really piney, limey, bubblegummy, with light spicy, yeast and alcohol, too. BeerZack (116), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2008 Cloudy honey-like orange color with thinnish head that clings to the sides of the glass.
Sweet and sugary, banana, circus peanuts, Extra bubblegum, slight impression of alcohol.
Big taste caught me off guard. Dry and almost bitter or tannic impression. Lots of citrus; somewhat odd flavor/feel. Almost hot and spicy feel that’s not very appealing to me.
Decently drinkable, considering the alcohol content. Magicdave6 (5531), London, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 4, 2008 Bottle huge thanks to wetherel! Aroma is great, packed full of citrusly orangy peel and lemmon hop, wheat is evedent and as it warms peppery alcohol comes through too. Taste is similar when in the mouth, but once swallowed the wheaty clove orange character are actually fighting with the near iipa hoppyness, causaeing a very confusing and annoying flavour to finish. This stays the whole beer which tells me one of two things. Get rid of the wheat and you’ve got a hot iipa. Or get rid of the hops and you’ve got an hot wheat wine. Either would be great for me, but not together. I still think this is a fairly drinkable beer for the strength, like its probably easier than bigfoot, but that finish just really got in the way. stefanje (944), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 3, 2008 Bottle at Toncatchers tasting. Poured a murky yellow gold with a big white head. The nose was all spices-- dominated by cloves and a bit orange peel. The flavor was spicy with white pepper, citrus and vanilla. The mouthfeel was silky smooth. The finish was long with lingering cloves. Overall: A very saison-like weizen, very tasty. mreusch (734), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2008 12oz bottle with thanks to Tyler (tytoanderso) for this Wants List bonus! Pours a murky golden with a large and persistent fluffy white head, great lacing. Aroma is orange peel, banana, lemon zest, and coriander. Flavor is banana, orange, lemon and more coriander. I guess that might be cloves there, but its the first time I’ve tasted it in a beer and it kept itself in a complimentary place rather than taking over and ruining everything for me. Palate is bright, crisp and engaging. Encouraging for my first Hefeweizen, and a nice one from NG. Thanks again Tyler!
