Commercial Description:
Do not waste time attempting to box this brew into some esoteric guide to styles. This is Dan’s bold creation. His passion for unfiltered Weiss collides with Cascade Hops inventing our Imperial Hefe-Weizen. Dry hopping boldly rules over Wisconsin red wheat and our special strain of Bavarian yeast. At almost 20 O.P. this is the super mac daddy of Weiss beers. Decoction mashing was followed by excessive dry hopping to create a fierce onslaught of clove, cinnamon and citrus all in this living beer. Don’t bother waiting to enjoy - the time is now.

Not your typical hefe, but it’s still damn good. The hops used throw it off a bit for the style but it’s still tasty as hell. A little bit like the NG Crakd wheat but not quite as dry of a finish, and a thicker mouthfeel.

A gift from kp. 12oz bottle, with red foil. Pours a hazy orange. White foamy head. Aroma of oxidized esters of alcohol. It smells like a musty, aged, English-style Barley Wine. It smells like it is gonna finish warm. Bold and heavy bodied. Rich malt complexity. Medium sweetness. Flavor of cracked wheat. Lots of clove and citrus. Very nice hop profile. Very bold bitterness. Hop flavors linger on the palate. Finishes with a citrus peel bitterness and a touch of pepper and fruit. This is a very big beer. Yummy too.
Rating 2009.

12oz bottle very generously brought out from the east coast by CaptainCougar. Pretty opaque golden-orange color with a big frothy white head that threatened to over-flow my tulip glass but barely stayed in. The aroma is a healthy dose of phenolics and banana esters (over-ripe banana) and a leafy, citrucy hop addition. The flavor is much like the cracked wheat, but with more alcohol heat (duh) and a little more bitterness. This is quite dry for how big it is, with wheaty malt flavors, spiciness, and medium fruitiness that is a little grapefruit and a little banana. The body is rather light for the size of the beer, and has ample carbonation with a soft texture. A pretty cool creation, but a little too much alcohol burn, that seems a bit overkill in conjunction with the bitterness. I think that a little more sweetness would have helped.

12 oz bottle courtesy of likely Discount Liquors (Milwaukee, WI). I continue my journey through the famed NG Wheat Beers! Pours a glowing orangish gold, big white thick head that sticks around, coats and laces, with a good hazed body, but still glowing. Aromas are typical of the wheat style, pushing banana and clove off the bat, a touch of faint spice, but largely the typical fare (Which isn’t a bad thing at all). Initial is a decent body, taking on slight initial bitterness and moving into the estery banana and clove body. A touch of warming alcohol, moderate hoppiness, a little more actually than a beer from this style would normally have leaving a bitter finish and a bit of chalkiness on the palate. This isn’t too sweet at all, but the flavors are pretty good, as the cinnamon comes through more noticeably into the body more, which is very pleasant. I’ve really become a fan of hoppy wheat beers, and this beer fully displays its hops without going over the edge. The wheat, esters, and flavors are still the focal point, as even delicate cinnamon can be picked out. The hops are wonderful, but don’t detract from other elements of the brew. Very good. Cheers!

12oz bottle. Thick tan-orange color with a perfect thick, lasting head. The aroma is wheaty, but with that thick underlying malty alcohol, almost Bocky really. There is some great hoppiness that almost takes you away from the wheat and thick malt taste. Lots of subtleties, from a fruity tang to an almost candi sugar thickness/sweetness. Excellent balance, with a perfect peppery spiced bitterness. Wowsers.

Bottle courtesy of pfoxyjohn. This is definitely a wheat beer on steroids. Pours a hazy golden color with a big fluffy off-white head. The aroma consists of melons, banana, orange, and an alcoholic yeasty scent. Flavors are sharp, tangy, and citrusy with lemon, orange peel, banana. There is a bit of an alcholic bite to this. Good beer. I enjoyed it on a nice warm Florida evening. Make sure you check the abv though... this isn’t one of those slug in the sun kind of wheat beers.
