| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 18, 2008 thanks to fantomas! Big clove and spices in the aroma, with hints of pine. Pours cloudy golden orange with a thick white head. Wow, my mouth doesn’t know what to make of it? is a big ipa or a hefe? Man the best of both worlds collide here, Very wheaty with banana and strong clove, with an intense bitterness and hints of citrus and piney hops. Awesome beer! theisti (1696), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 18, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Chicones in Hudson, Wisconsin. Pour is a hazy orange golden with a big 3 inch off white head which is quite lasting. Aroma of strong cloves, yeast and bubble gum. Some sweet citrus spiciness. Taste has the traditional Hefe flavors, wheat, banana, bubblegum and yeastiness. It also has a sharp ear wax bitterness (grapefruit peel) and a fair amount of heat in the finish. Palate is nice and full and creamy. I guess I just don’t like these big Hefes as much as the next guy. Just didn’t seem completed to me. dukefan (173), Dallas, Texas, USA

If I didn’t know about the yeasts, I would swear this was a banana fruit beer. Powerhouse, and what you would expect from New Glarus. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2008 12oz bottle from drewbeerme - thanks, Andrew!!! Another killer from the great Dan Carey, and I’d say this is probably the impy weizen that most closely approximates its original style without compromising its extremity. You get that lovely cloudy body and big refreshing taste from the unfiltered brew. The spices are not overbearing or excessively sweet, and the body is nicely full. The kick comes with the abundant hopping and it provides a nice bite at the outset and again at the finish. Really interesting and complex beer, another winner from NG. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 16, 2008 12 oz. bottle - thanks to drewbeerme for the trade; wow, this beer was just a delight from start to finish; pours cloudy light orange with thin white head maintaining throughout the surface; bready and fruity aromas - peaches, lemons, yeast and slightly sour; lovely texture to it that reminds me of HotD brews; slight zing to the flavors and drinks with a warm fuzz; sweet flavors of pineapple and wheat; i can’t wait for another bottle!! notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Thanks to iowaherkeye for this one - pours a cloudy glowing orange/gold, with some frothy bubbles on top - assertive nose of lemon zest, banana, clove, coriander, cardamom, wildflowers, orange peel - very complex, and very powerful - thick, creamy mouthfeel - a bit peppery and spicy and first - the peppery character lasts throughout, and combines with the alcohol presence to make the beer quite warming - cardamom, coriander, and other spices that remind me of indian food, which is rather odd for this style, but it works fairly well - some honey sweetness, banana, and citrus - the sweetness gets cut off abruptly by rather strong hopping, which doesn’t quite work with the other qualities of the beer - the wheat makes its presence known through a gentle earthy tartness in the background - a wee bit of acidity at the end - it doesn’t come together as well as it could, but it’s a pretty nice beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Shared with garthicus, courtesy of swoopjones. Hazy orange with a decent fizzy white head. Sweet candy and fruit (apple, pear, mango), with literally tons of pungent peppery yeast and dry juniper hops - moderate alcohol. Taste has all those characteristics, but quite lively and aggressive - in a good way - acidic and nicely carbonated - extremely well done, massive!
