Nose is semi-sweet; banana, citrus, clove, wheat, and yeast. Flavor is bold...and dominated by clove, citrus, and banana. The 9.6% ABV is truly invisible. Not my favorite style but I can appreciate the brew. New Glarus...great brewery!!! hillfiiiiire, ketchepillar, & crowderm...THANKS AGAIN!!! emerica56 (587), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 13, 2008 The beer pours a thick white head with a nice ring that coast the sides of the glass. It has a cloudy orange yellow color. The nose is of sweet light fruits and citrus hops. The initial flavor is nice and bitter with hops just popping in your mouth. Overall it like how is nicely carbonated and contains the right amount of hops and malt. bu11zeye (5715), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2008 (12oz bottle) Pours a cloudy golden orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma of florals, banana, clove, lemon, and pepper. Flavor of banana, wheat, cherry, clove, grass, some tangerine, and other herbs. CharlesDarwin (1873), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 9, 2008 12oz Bottle. Noses very strongly in a piquant banana syrup and general fruit mish-mash. Phenolic for sure, but at a different level. Very sweet, perfumy and fruity. Inviting. Pours a heavily clouded golden-orange, with a tall finger of sparse, soapy opalescent khaki. Flavor is interesting. It’s like a hybrid barelywine-hefeweizen. I still get a lot of those delicious spicy clove flavors, but then much of the high octane ester production from the gravity. Interesting. Complex and rich, yet not heavy. Lots of carbonation and the spritzy fresh Hefe character gives this example lots of depth. Hops come in and just add to the show. Their parching dry leaf and herbal character add to the freshness. You know what this beer is? This beer is how Batch 8000 should have been brewed. This what that beer SHOULD taste like. The bristling rich edge of hops adds a nice quality to the beer. It’s not sweet, it’s got great flavors and complexity, while maintaining drinkability in the face of gravity. I’m impressed. Nice show, Dan Carey. A prickling of alcohol brings up the back, before a long glide into tart phenolic residuals and grassy fruits. Delicious! Thanks Nathan! Theis (3798), Denmark
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Bottle at Sune’s (Thanks). Cloudy golden - white head. Pineapples, dryness, banana, wheat, yeasty, high hoppy. A bit boring.... still just a german hefeweizen. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2008 A HUGE hefe!!! The first hefe I had that packs a punch. An onslaught of wheat and hops. It comes out in the aroma and flavor. This is just in your face with flavor and complexities. Another outstanding effort by New Glarus. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Interesting hybrid: a bit of citrus (lime) and sweaty, musty yeasts. Notes of clove and huge amounts of banana with spices like pepper, clove, cinnamon. Somewhat funky hospital smells which tend to turn me off, although this is pretty good, because I can imagine the scent as perfumed, lacy panties. Sorry, it’s my best point of comparison here. New Glarus, you’ve done it again. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA
