| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Bottled sample via Dalzale, and shared with oakbluff. Pale brown in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are of funk, cherry pits, flowers, maple syrup, and a bit of chocolate. Quite acidic in the mouth with more wild + sour fruit flavors upfront, before some sweeter chocolate fudge, roasted nut, and cherry flavors take over. Light bodied for what most would consider for a porter, but then again, this isn’t intended to be a run of the mill early 21st century porter anyway. Very interesting and somewhat difficult to rate. The 12 oz bottle shared between two people was about as much of this beer as I’d want to drink at one sitting, but it was still a pleasent experience. machfive55 (231), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Poured dark brown with a huge head and an awesome coffee and chocolate aroma. Flavor was slightly sour with strong coffee notes, very unique. Overall a nice aroma and interesting flavor although a little too sour, good beer. allendodd (47), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2009 OK - so all old English style porters were a blend of soured and fresh beer. A little beer education comes to me today. First off, I love this beer. It pours a deep, clear mahogany with a big head. The nose is the cherry tartness of the sour with some caramel backing. The first taste is clearly the cherry tartness but is followed a caramel flavor that is as clearly pronounced as I can remember in a beer. That sweetness is followed by a big smokey flavor and all of it is mixed in with the big acidic bitterness. This is very good and yet another minor masterpiece by this brewery. Too bad this one might not be around forever. angrypirate06 (765), Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Bottle thanks to some guy named "bman1113vr". Clear dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is coffee beans, ash. Flavor is sour, coffee beans, unsweet chocolate. Lively mouthfeel. BMan1113VR (2877), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Multiple bottles via multiple trades. Talk about a different beer! Pours with a clear chestnut brown body and a decently sized, creamy off-white head that sticks around. Aroma is nutty and toffee like with chocolate, nougat, and a light lactic note with some oak. Taste is quite sour (oddly so) upfront with toffee, and caramel everywhere. Very odd and buttery with notes of currants as well. Good, but I absolutely love the other Unplugged beers with brett (alot more than this one)
I really love the idea and story behind this beer, possibly even more than the actual beer itself. yobdoog (1436), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Brown color with a small head. Aroma is sweet nice and sour with a little roast. Flavor is sweet, apple, roast, sour and smooth. Really nice, delicious and drinkable. hombrepalo (769), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 30, 2009 12 oz bottle. Poured thin coca cola like, slight head but quickly diminishing. Balsamic vinegar in the aroma and some in the flavor. Quite acidic throughout, but most sour. A sour brown blended with moderately roasted porter. I would probably call this a sour ale, as it is quite sour. I would be surprised if original porter was quite as sour as this. Really a unique treat. durhambeer (1213), Durham, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Bottle, generously sent by CanIHave4Beers. First off, this tastes nothing like Olde English. That said, it still drinks pretty good. Pours like a glass of tea, clear brown, but with an added small bubbly head. Nothing much to look at, really. Nose is a touch woody, malty, roasty, and sour. Hint of smoke. Taste adds crazy tartness, some lactic, some cherry skins. The closest I can compare it to is something like a Rodenbach on the palate, yet totally different. Complex and lively on the palate. This is a wonderful beer.
