Very smoky aroma. Nice deep brown color with a creamy head. Good malt aftertaste that couples with the smoke to make this beer incredibly drinkable. Would buy again zebracakes (1216), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is smoke, ham, honey, pineapple. Flavor is the same with malt and slight hops. This is a pretty smooth, smoky damn good beer. douglas88 (1670), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Updated: Apr 24, 2008Bottle thanks to Drnk_McDermott. Pours a deep brown with a decent beige head. The aroma is smoky bacon and some malt. The flavor is also quite smoky with a bunch of toasted malts. Also, some hops and chocolate. Nice. Would be great with some ham or turkey. Hell, with anything. islay (479), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Roughly 3 oz. pour from a 12 oz. bottle, consumed at a beer tasting on 4-12-08. Smoky, yeasty aroma. Campfire, sausage, and milk chocolate scents (think s’mores without the marshmallow). Pours dark brown with a red hue. Large amount of dark beige to light tan head. Good lacing. Smoke in the attack and the finish; porter in the mid-palate. This is smokier than most smoked porters and smokier than I expected. Medium body. Surprisingly soft in the palate. I’m a sucker for a good smoked beer, and New Glarus Smoke on the Porter certainly qualifies. redlight (1496), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Thanks to fantomas! Sweet roasted malts, creamy aromas with hints of smoke. Pours Dark brown with a thick tan head that slips away quickly. Smooth chocolate malts, creamy mouthfeel, roasted malts, not overly smokey but just enough to give this porter a leg up on the others! theisti (1689), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2008 12 oz. bottle purchased at Chicones in Hudson, Wisconsin. Pour is dark brown with ruby highlights. Nice one inch tan head which is lasting. Lacing on glass is pretty. Aroma is roastiness primarily, and some wet campfire. Taste is mostly about the malted smokiness, finishing with a bitter hoppiness which is nice. The smokiness is very mouth coating, very much like drinking heavily roasted coffee. Medium palate, good drinkability. Overall, this was decent smoked beer but not terribly complex. MesandSim (5946), London, Greater London, England
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Tom’s UGT Pt. 2. Almost black mahogany colour with a very good tan head. Rich smoky malt all round. The Bamberg influence is clear, and dare I say it, in bottle form at least, possibly a touch better. I generally go weak at the knees for good smoked beer and this one is bloody awesome.
