Commercial Description:
Smoke on the Porter began with our neighbors at Hoesly’s Meats. Their smoke house aromas waft through our door creating a special kind of decadence that must be shared. Wisconsin barleys were generously cold smoked with apple wood by the Hoesly family. Brewmaster Dan then harnesses dark malts smoked in Bamberg to create a team that steps out as a creamy smooth black brew that will forever linger in your mind as Smoke on the Porter.

Bottle Yes another Unplugged some day i will have rated them all. Any how This one pours out a dark brown almost black with a little red. Topepd with a off white cream head. A nice aroma of light roast and light smoke. Tast of light smoke and some more of that roast malt. Pretty nice. Thanks Jake65 for letting me have some of this.

12 oz bottle from UncleJedi - thanks John! Pours near black with a light brown head. Chocolaty nose, big, woody smokiness. Flavors of dry semisweet chocolate and smoky wood, lightly earthy. Body is smooth, a tad thin, but not by much. Very drinkable! A bit of coffee comes through in the smoky finish. Good stuff!

Funky meaty aftertaste and a bit too sweet at points. One of the better smokes but still not a favorite.

12oz bottle. Pours normal looking porter color with a generous tan head. Aroma is immediately smoky and nice. I don’t want to say this is unsubtle because it’s not overwhelmingly smoky, but it’s definitely more assertive than a lot of smoke beers I’ve had. The smokiness doesn’t cover up the nice roasty, chocolatey porter characteristics, which is nice. In addition, the smokiness is a nice crisp, appetizing smelling smoke. Not overly phenolic or peaty. Taste is smooth, medium bodied, smoky with a nice long dry finish. Certainly one of the best smoked beers if not the best I’ve ever had.

12-oz. Thanks, Theisti! Black. Dense but shallow tan creamy head. Huge smokey, bacony nose. Watery, somewhat flat body. Lots of smoke, roast, bacon, and chocolate on the mid-palate. Long smoky chocolate finish. With livelier carb and a bit more creaminess to the body, this would be a classic.

Very dark mahogany. Thick. Some straw head. Very clean aroma. Some roasty notes. Spicy carbonation, thick, sweet. Roasty and toasty malt flavor. AMazing interplay between smokey roastiness and smoked malt smokiness.

From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a mostly transparent, dark brown color with a moderate head of fizzy tan. Pleasant smokey aroma; it has a bit of an ashy, woody, campfire quality. I hate to use the word "balanced" to describe a smoked beer, but that’s really what’s going on here. Clean malt aromas of chocolate and mild toast come through in equal parts with the smoke. The smoke is rather similar to the quality of the Alaskan Smoked Porter, but the level is a bit less. I want more of that ham, bacon, and salty intensity. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft talcum-like malt texture. Flavors of dry chocolate and toasted bread, along with the namesake woody smoke. Clean finish with a lingering chocolate and smokey maltiness.
