Commercial Description:
Smoke on the Porter began with our neighbors at Hoesly’s Meats. Their smoke house aromas waft through our door creating a special kind of decadence that must be shared. Wisconsin barleys were generously cold smoked with apple wood by the Hoesly family. Brewmaster Dan then harnesses dark malts smoked in Bamberg to create a team that steps out as a creamy smooth black brew that will forever linger in your mind as Smoke on the Porter.

Thanks to Eben for this one. Opaque black body with a tall tan head formed that becomes frothy as it shrinks. The aroma is roasted and chocolaty but has an incredibly pleasant bbq smoke character as well. The flavor is almost creamy. It’s light on the palate and chocolaty. Smoke prevails throughout but is not overpowering. Great departure and well done.

Dark pour with a small tan head. Aroma of light chocolate, chocolate, hickory, and smoke. Taste is of chocolate, smoke, and a slight burntness. Incredibly smoothpalate. Very nice finish. Everything seemed to have been done right with this brew. Make it an imperial and I’m hooked. Would buy again.

Pours black with a medium tan head. Nice clean aroma of sweet chocolate and smoke. Taste is the same with a little bitterness in the end. Good stuff. Thanks Grim!!

Wow, pours a deep black with frothy tan head (dissipates quickly). Aroma is incredibly complex smoking. Reminds of the old fish smokehouse in Port Washington, WI just north of where I grew up. Not overbearing, but great aroma. Flavor contains smoke up front with a great dry malt balance. Essences of smoke and wood and burnt caramel. A bit of biscuit too. Finish is clean from the dryness. Medium body smooths everything out just perfect. Best smoked porter I have had. Really nice! Thanks to Bockyhorsey for this excellent beer from the homeland!!!

12 oz. bottle either from joeybgood or secret santa, thanks to both. Pours an extremely dark brown with mahogany highlights. Good sized creamy beige head leaves delicate lacing. The nose is the perfect amount of smoke along with chocolate and roasted and caramel malts. The flavor is much like the aroma. Nothing dominates and it works well together. Smoke, roasted malts, caramel malts, and chocolate all in balance. Medium bodied and creamy smooth. I would love to have more access to this and all other NG beers.

12-oz bottle received via trade with tjthresh. Pours opaque with a small, frothy, brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (toasted grain, nutty, coffee), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather, broth) with notes of smoke, prunes, and wood. Medium bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a creamy finish. Long duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Bottle pours a clear black with red light getting through. A small head was short lived and becomes a surface ring around the glass. The aroma is smoke house, malty sweetness, caramel, coffee, and chocolate. The flavor is roasted, sweet, lactic, coffee, chocolate, ale fruit notes, and smoke all the way through. In fact, there is the feeling of smoke in my throat. The palate is rich and creamy. This one is good. Later - I seem to be burping up smoke house meats. I love Sconnie.

Poured a clear deep brown color with an off-white head. Nice smoke in the front of the aroma. Some sweet roast mixes in. Smoky raosted malt flavor. Nice but small let down after the smooth aroma. Light to medium bodied and still a very nice beer.
