Thanks to kmeves for this beer. Cherry red pour with pink head and nice lacing. Nose is dominate of marischino cherries and tart candy...fantastic. Flavor is much the same. Well carbonated with a lingering finish. Thanks Kevin!

750ml bottle. Hugely anticipated beer for me. How exciting. Pours a sunburnt orange red color with ample carbonation and a pretty pink head. I just smiled when I smelled this. I don’t really feel the need to describe the aroma, just because it would be about 15 positive adjectives followed by the word ’cherry’. Suffice to say this is a 10 on aroma. Taste is the same. I really don’t get much more from the taste or aroma than cherry, but that does not make it any less complex or interesting than I expected. I simply cannot see how a better flavor or smell could be extracted from a fruit. Great balance between tartness and sweetness. This just goes to show how much other fruit beers suck. Amazing.

Bottle courtesy of hopscotch. Thanks for sharing this incredible top 50 beer with me! Awesome Red Color with a very tiny red tinged white head. Some lacing and a ridiculous sour cherry arome. The taste is sour cherries and vanilla. The oak aging comes through. Creamy smooth finish and the strong carbonation makes it go down real smooth. One of the best beers I’ve ever had, if not the best.

Opening a New Glarus brew always produces a moment of excitement in me – particularly for specimens of such renown. As a raspberry enthusiast, I tend to cast an exigent eye on the fruit’s use. Consequently, New Glarus’ Raspberry Tart left me slightly underwhelmed, I felt the medium of beer wasn’t fully explored. However, its cherry-saturated counterpart, the Belgian Red, held less demanding expectations yet exceeded even those I had set for the former. The pour produced an extravagant red mire accented of magenta. Pink fizz churned from the murk. Painted thick, the nose is equally rich, exuding expansive cherry aromas. The fruit is present but variegated, sometimes showing a waxy Twizzler-like sweetness, other times a genuine red cherry sourness. The nostalgic aroma of Sweet Tarts is unmistakable and supplemented by marshmallow and Smarties (of the American variety). Hints of brown sugar, spice and Cherry Coke add a distinctive flair. The flavor further underscores Sweet Tarts and pleasantly sour cherries. The beer is sweet but neither syrupy nor sugary, it strikes a good balance between fruit and beer. Rich tonalities of vanilla, butter and almond paste hit the right notes, added to the enjoyable fizziness. The long sticky sour aftertaste hints at a subtle oaking. All in all, a beautiful brew and truly a fine example of New Glarus’ craft. (22/04/07)

750ml Bottle. When I open the bottle I noticed some reddish residue on the bottle cap and in the neck. Had this gone bad? NOT!!! It was absolutely wonderful. It was like sucking on a Jolly Rancher!!!

Wow what an aorma this beer has strong cherry syrup followed by rasberry limetart it is so intence the fruit is never ending. The color is cloudy and has some lacing along the sides of the glass with a cloudy amber color. The flavor is extreamly sweet with tons of fruit bombarding the tip of my tounge. The finish is a bit sour with some noce rasberry and hints of strawberry right on the tounge. The flavor is so sweet and sour it is unbelieavable. I like how it is acidic yet has that sweet cherry aftertaste.

Pours a beautiful transluscent horizon red (I’m coining that) with a finger thick off-white head, leaving nice lacing. The nose is most similar to cherry juice, including marchiano and black. There is a note of cream in the aroma, too. The flavour is wonderfully tart, acidic and sweet cherries. There is a presence of mild molasses and herbal hops. It’s like candy, it’s so sweet, but not in a cloyong way because the herbal finsh adds some balance. The texture is velvety smooth and finishs with a tremendous lingering of semi-tart cherries and nougat sweetness.

Hazy medium red w/ ok head. Aroma is big fruity cherry and floury wheat. Big juicy cherry up front, tart finish. Very active carbonation tingles the tongue and complements the cherry acidity nicely. Given to me courtesy of JPDipso.
