Aroma is fresh cherries & black forest cake (probably kirsch). Holy fresh cherries, Batman! Montomrency, sweet and syrupy. Lightly tart, but not puckering - overwhelmingly fresh - just a note of dijon mustard? Good carbonation, lightly creamy, coats the throat very well. Wow! What a treat this was to try. Fresh, tasty, sweet, many thanks to my secret Festivus santa, Ughsmash! supremecrusher (6), Edina, Minnesota, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 29, 2008 Amazing flavor of cherries is blasting out. Tastes like fresh cherry pie. I may have had a skunky bottle, but the nose was slightly smelling of wet cardboard. Overall i enjoyed it immensely and hope the second bottle i have smells better. barleycorn1 (10), Catonsville, Maryland, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 22, 2008 Huge sweet and sour flavors of cherries, no alcohol which is nice and some malts. Very good. WISEGUY572 (1245), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Easy enough to make a sweet fruit beer enjoyable, and this certainly was enjoyable. Nose of sweet cherries and tart fruit; people with me kept saying cranberry juice. Lovely hazy reddish color with a small head. Taste of sweet cherries, lightly malted, could use more offsetting bitterness, and a sourness that might also have come from the cherries or some lambic activity. Average mouth feel, not cloying or syrupy as I had feared. Maybe a bonus point for being low alcohol. Easy to get a high rating with a sweet fruity beer, but this one was nice. wj94 (64), Virginia, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Pours ruby red with a one-finger light head with red highlights. Smell is all cherries, this is going to be good.....on to the drinking:
Tastes incredible with tart cherries and a medium mouthfeel with just the right level of carbonation. I’m going to have to drink this one slowly, a real treat. Putting this in my top 5 beers, would love to have more. mabel (2590), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 13, 2008 [1000-20071223] 1pt9.4floz (c/o GregClow, w/ him, jerc). Super red sweet cherry pie aroma. Cloudy, dark bright red body with a long-lasting off-white head. Sweet cherry pie continues in the flavour along with tart cherry skins in the background. Medium body has a tart finish. Lingering on this simply allows even more exceptional characteristics to reveal themselves.
Other notes: Just before this bottle, we had been rating a superb <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/ottos-jolly-roge Roger Imperial Stout (c/o boboski) and had decided on a whim to see what would happen if we mixed a little of the Red and the Roger together... The two beers on their own are lovely, lovely beverages, but together they made a remarkably memorable experiment for a cherry imperial stout...
Lastly, yay 1000 ratings! That was pleasantly unexpected. I should definitely thank the Toronto boys for letting me join in with them this past year -- now I’m totally hooked and it’s all your fault, jerc. ;) elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a opaque red with a white head. Has huge hints of cherries. Alcohol not present. Seemed like a fruit juice more than a beer. Finished refreshing and clean on the tongue. Great for a fruit beer.
