Pours a deep red/orange with light red head. Delicious aroma of sweet juicy cherries, tart, caramel malt, and a hint of funk. Wow flavor is intense... cherries and more cherries. Sweet and tart, with hints of sweet malt. Great flavor, but slightly overpowering. Strongest flavored fruit beer I’ve had. Nice, smooth mouthfeel. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA

New Glarus Belgian Red
750 ml bottle
Moderate pour in a shaker.
Unknown brewing, enjoyed 07/07
Poured a dark red, with some brown tinges, with a moderate off-white and "off-ruddy" fizzy mostly diminishing head.
Smelt of strong tart cherries, baked cherry pie, candi cherries, spiced cherry jam and fermented cherries by the windowsill.
Taste was upfront strong sweet and sour cherry juice followed by a stronger sweetness on the follow through to a nice mellow moderate sweet and sour finish. All cherries.
Palate was cherry.
Overall, holy fucking cherries! I’m happy I shared this with semi knowledgeable beer friends, because it was great, but also there’s no way I could have drank a whole bottle. It’s just too much cherries. One glass is a great treat though. Cherries. ogglethorp (886), Ohio, USA

Aroma is phenominal, huge tart cherries, dough, citrus, yeast, candi sugar. Flavor is again phenominal, huge tart cherries, dough, citrus, yeast, candi sugar. Palate is medium, highly carbonated, finishes initially sweet then turns tart. Simply awesome. oakbluff (298), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Served into a champagne flute. Poured a murky red color, slight head and lacing. Smell is hard to describle- kind of a musty sweet smell. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this beer and it met my non expectations. Wow- what a different flavour! Huge cherries, with a really sour finish, but yet sweet at the same time. the sweetness seems to be like a honey flavour. Good mouthfeel and carbonation. I’m not a huge cherry, so the flavour of this beer is probably wasted on me. I due to have to give credit for an awesome effort and a very complex brew. I am very glad I had a chance to try this, but probably a one time try.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 28, 2007 750ML bottle, with a big THANKS to Dorwart; pours a cloudy dense reddish brownish amber orange with a slight tan head that forms and disappears after the pour, then settles into a whispy covering, minimal lacing. Aroma is a pop of freshly cooked sweet bing cherries and slight dough; the "cherry pie right from the oven" comparisons are on the mark. Flavor exceeds expectations on my first Fruit Beer, cherries with enough tartness to keep your attention, yet not overpowering. Palate delivers a gentle and mellow mouthfeel, carbonation and finish that seems needed for this style. A very good, refreshing and interesting beer. BuckeyeBoy (1652), Boise, Idaho, USA
