Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Little head left, over amber-red beer. Fruity, syrupy nose, like an (older), slightly ripened sweet Liefmans kriek. Sour-sweet taste, with fruity sourness, definitely cherries, but somehow not 100% naturally tasting. In the finish, clear cherry syrup, or laid-up sugared cherries. Palate is too syrupy to be fully enjoyable as a fruitbeer, medium bodied. Despite the harsh words above, it is still better than remembered from the first encounter, now +/- 15 years ago - then it was a kind of BelleVue Kriek experience.

Source:750 mL bottle picked up for me by lithy.
Glass:Arcadia Stem.
Appearance:Darkish red pour with a thin pink head.
Aroma:Sweet cherries, cream and cake. Cherries are dominant.
Flavor:Again, sweet cherries dominate, with caramel, cake and a creamy finish.
Palate:Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall:This was good. I personally enjoy the raspberry tart a little more, but this was excellent.

A Mes rate. Bottle at home.
Harry gave me this bottle a couple of years ago. I’ve been struggling not to drink it ever since. I’m so glad I waited. This is utterly superb. The aroma has probably a little more raspberry than cherry but my god it’s glorious. Faint vanilla and angel cake too. Flavour, shit the bed, this is truly outstanding. It really does not drink like a beer. So much sweet, freshly picked glacé cherries and so much adorable marzipan. Effortlessly drinkable. Very sweet but with a delicate but oh so refined sour / tart finish. I’ve had this before and found it a little over the top sweet but with some age on it, it’s truly world class. So much finesse and poise. So much lip smacking flavour. This really is top drawer. I have half a glass left. Sod the notes, you know I’m loving this one. I’m off to spend some (all too brief) special time with what I have left. Isn’t that the story of our life fellas?

750ml bottle as an awesome gift from gandgkevin and zizzybalubba poured into a wine glass and crushed with LJ for #300! pours a beautiful, dark, rosey, pink with a soft, light pink head and a ring of lace. aroma is fantastic with notes of tart red and sweet black cherries with a light floral touch of fresh lillies, a bit of vanilla, and a hint of sugary malts. flavor was absolutely perfect and truly tasted identical to mom’s cherry pie with tart cherry notes up front slowly mellowed by sweet, dark cherries, vanilla, and smooth wheat with a touch of cinnamon spice and sugared pie crust with a lingering, tart cherry finish. palate is medium bodied and well carbonated with a perfect balance of tart and sweet to keep it from being too syrupy. overall, truly a world class fruit beer.

75cl bottle, thanks to photomike for bringing both this and the raspberry tart to the August SC tasting! This is another great fruit beer by NG, but I’m afraid it suffered a little bit being tasted along side raspberry tart, which is hands down the most amazing fruit beer that I have ever had. Maybe it’s just my preference for raspberries though, because the beers were almost the same except for the fruit flavor. Red color with a small head. The aroma is just a surge of cherry pie, almost leaning toward maraschino cherries in a fake way, but managing to tip-toe the line and come across a little more like pie-filling. The flavor is pure cherry pie with a light tartness and surprising and welcomed lack of sweetness in the finish. The aroma doesn’t burst with quite the amazingness of raspberry tart, but this was quite good in its own right.

Bottle generously provided from MaxxDaddy - What a treat!! Finnally got around to cap this baby in good coompany and everything - including the company - suddenly got much better. Not much to look at being murky brown redish with no head, but the flavour of cherries got my attention and the fantastic flavour of aromatic cherries, the sweet malt and perfect tartness to balance the palate made Kris a happy boy! I want more....

Pours a deep Marion color with pink head that turns into a crown. Smell at first was really bad vinegar but as it warmed a little it became much more plesant cherries. Taste is tart cherry with a dry Belgian finish. Very tasty and sweet. Mouth is thin to medium bodied with high carbonation. This is probably the first beer I could drink with a meal. Incredibly tasty and I will seek this out any chance I get.

Pours a dark red with a pink hints. Aroma is cherries and medicine. Flavor is nice cherry pie. Not too sweet. Just right. Nice lively carbonation. Like a sparkling juice wine. Seems nice enough. Interesting to say the least. I enjoyed this, even though kylie and her dad thought it was too juice, cough syrup, sweet like. Tasty. Nice dessert beer. Fuck it. Maybe this beer is a little fruity, but I can’t stop drinking it.
