Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Bright cherry red with a small pinkish head. Poured a bit thick, which made me think this was going to be a sweet thing I wouldn’t want. Aroma is tangy cherry with mellow maltiness. The flavor of fresh cherries just jumps out at you. I mean the whole cherry, stems, pits, dirt, skin, everything. There is a bitterness to offset all of these cherries, that makes it a bit sour and dry. Noting to complain about. After having this stuff a few times, I’ve had to lower my rating a little. The last two bottles have tasted like cherry pie filling. Just too sweet.

Bottle. Courtesy of joeybgood. Pours a hazed magenta. Medium pink head. Nose is strong cherry and spice. Not unlike Quelque Chose. Taste is nice cherry (black cherry and maraschino cherry mix), light spice and some tartness. Strong fruit notes overall. Body is slightly acidic while being fairly dry and tart. Finishes with more strong cherry notes and light spice. Great beer!

Discount Liquors, Milwaukee, WI. - 500 ml bottle. Thick, murky - orangeish auburn pour with a long lasting, persisitent, creamy white head. Aroma, which is the only weak point of this brew, has a slight cherry cough syrupy bent to it - nice - but not strong enough to match the other high qualities of this beer. Flavor - almost too much! It is as if somebody sat here and put fresh cherries in my glass, fermented them and served them to me. Noting artifical here, thick and syrupy and fresh and not too sour. Excellent, not enough words to describe it. Mouthfeel, thick and creamy and coats your tongue and throat. This stuff could be addicitng, may nee dto pick up another bottle on the way home to share with my fiance! Worthy of its lofty ranking.

George Washington’s little hatchet would have had trouble with this 750 ml cherry tree. Poured a cloudy garnet color. Bubbly white head that laced the glass. I’ve eaten my fair share of Door County cherries, but the recipe for this beer really showcases them well. Cherry pie aroma is strong and overwhelms the hops. Flavor is similar with duelling tart and sweet cherries that twirl the tongue. The higher than average carbonation seems to suit this beer well. Very good.

750ml bottle, via trade with Kramer17801, thanks for the joy of this brew. Beer 11 of the Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 1/12/2007, consumed with many great beer drinkers including Bartzilla, Naven, as well as Lee Chase. This is some fantastic beer, it is stellar beyond belief. I happily shared this with many other enthusiats and they all agreed, this tastes really great, and some said it could replace the mimosa for brunch. Hell I think its so good I could drink it every single day. Whether it is beery enough for you or not is up to you, but damn this is some amazing brewing. New Glarus, I bow down to Wisconsin with complete ability to say that "I amd not worthy."

Brown-red, coppery colored, strongly cloudy appearance. Little light brown head. Sour aroma with dominating rasberries and sweetness, even some toffee and cherries there. Near full bodied. Flavor is richer with strong sweetness, raspberries and some other berries. Aftertaste is sour with also this raspberry touch. Too sweet, under my high expectations, still nice different beer.

Awesome. Cloudy brownish red. Minimal head. Delicious cherry flavour with a cidery edge. Sour and delicious. Very short finish.
