The flavor has a huge cherry blast, complete with crust, finishing in a nice tartness that leaves you craving more. Very fresh and delicious. Spritzy, light palate. I’d love to taste this one on the rocks, it’d probably work extremely well. Bottle thanks to JCapriotti. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark

Heavy sweet aroma with plenty of cherrires and marzipan tones. Sweet and sour cherry flavor with almond and marzipan. Rather tart and sharp and very flavorfull. An excellent and very tasty fruit beer! Thanks madsberg for sharing! maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 29, 2007 WBF - Raleigh. Bottle. Slightly hazy deep red body. Sweet but slightly tart cherry aroma. Sweet cherry flavor, quite like a cherry pie. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 13, 2008 [1000-20071223] 1pt9.4floz (c/o GregClow, w/ him, jerc). Super red sweet cherry pie aroma. Cloudy, dark bright red body with a long-lasting off-white head. Sweet cherry pie continues in the flavour along with tart cherry skins in the background. Medium body has a tart finish. Lingering on this simply allows even more exceptional characteristics to reveal themselves.
Other notes: Just before this bottle, we had been rating a superb <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/ottos-jolly-roge Roger Imperial Stout (c/o boboski) and had decided on a whim to see what would happen if we mixed a little of the Red and the Roger together... The two beers on their own are lovely, lovely beverages, but together they made a remarkably memorable experiment for a cherry imperial stout...
Lastly, yay 1000 ratings! That was pleasantly unexpected. I should definitely thank the Toronto boys for letting me join in with them this past year -- now I’m totally hooked and it’s all your fault, jerc. ;) tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Thank you Harry for fulfilling my quest to try this beer! Incredible real cherry aroma - stunning. Hazy red, pinkish white head - deep, murky, thick. Taste - Cherry, malt, and some bitterness. Formidable thick body, yet quenching. So drinkable and so good. Did not disappoint! ChainGangGuy (2613), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 21, 2008 Brewed with Montmorency Cherries (purportedly a pound of whole cherries per bottle), locally grown wheat, and Hallertau hops, the beer is then left to mature in 12 ft. tall oak tanks. Okay, great, let’s get to it. Murky ruby-hue capped by a flamingo-pink head appearance and harbors an aroma reeking of unabashed cherrynicity, there’s nothing fake or artificial about this beer. With a taste reminiscent of fruit leather, the flavor is certainly aggressive in it’s sheer determination to cram that pound of cherries down your damn throat. It deftly walks the fine line between sweet and tart and carries with it a jolt of juicy, cheek-pinching acidity. The malted wheat and hops definitely take a backseat to the deep, strong cherry fruitiness. God, I hope you like cherries. The high level of carbonation in the beer does well to bring a much-needed levity to what otherwise would be a thick, syrupy body. You do like cherries, right? Overall, a deliciously unique beverage, though I suspect some may be left angrily shouting the catchphrase "Where’s the Beer?" Pailhead (2609), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Bottle: Aroma is all cherries. Kind of has a cherry pucker smell. Pours a cloudy orangish-red with a small white with a little pink head that is gone somewhat quicly. Excellent lacing. Flavor is without a doubt cherry. It’s a bit more sour cherry in the finish. If you like cherries, you have to really like this beer. Only problem is that you need to have someone to share this with. A whole bottle to yourself kind of wears on you. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 1, 2004 Bottle pours reddish caramel with a pinkish hued milky head. Definate cherry in the nose, hints of graham cracker. Smells like a damn cherry pie! Tart cherries up front, light oak blends in at the middle, finishing with a smooth sourness. Some slight smokiness. Yeah, this is tasty! Good mouthfeel, full bodied, with a dry finish. Clean, crisp, and very flavorful. I'd have this one again for sure! Thanks goes out to TChrome for the trade!
