Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Thanks to Eyedrinkale for sharing this at Brewtopia ’04. Deep red color. The aroma is outstanding! Rich, fresh cherries! No hop aroma here, this lets the cherries take the front of the stage and they don’t disappoint at all. The flavor is nicely tart with fruity sweetness which is perfectly in balance. A delightfully different beer.

Aroma of cherry pie, straight from the oven and cooling on the proverbial windowsill. Fetching opaque brownish red in color with a bit of pink showing around the edges and a slight head with very fine carbonation. Tart and somewhat sweet, fruity flavor profile, cherry juice being apparent throughout all phases. Some spices come out of hiding once the beer warms a bit, but overall the tart and sweet cherry and faint maltiness (a bit of wheat as well) serve as the focus. Finish is very lengthy. After my first couple of sips, I wasn’t so sure this was the masterpiece it’s renown seems to indicate, but after a little while I really started enjoying it. Not quite as complex as some of the Belgian beers of this style I’ve sampled, and a 750 really is quite a lot to drink by yourself. Overall, however, I appreciated it, and I’ve definitely never had anything quite like it.

Bright red-brown body. Creamy white head. Frothy. Silky body. Nose of cranberries, cherries, spice flavor. Warm and complex. Nicely balanced. This is the beer that tasted like Thanksgiving.

750 shared with after4ever. Pours a cloudy mahogany with an off white head. Aroma is domintated with dried cherries. Medium body and carbonation. The taste is sweet/tart like a liquid version of Trader Joe’s dried Montmorency cherries. Dry finish. If you like tart cherries, this beer is for you - it’s more like a cherry cider than a beer.

Marzipan aroma with cherry stones, slightly woody too. Sweet start with a big fruity cherry flavour. So balanced, medium bodied and refreshing. Red with a short pink head. Wonderful fruit beer.

Sampled at 56.3 degrees..a beautiful cloudy orangish red..like mixing orange & cranberry juices..it sang in its lovely glair...the head started pink and semi-thick but settled considerably..The aroma really traveled as i was able to catch whiffs of fresh baked cherry pie from a few feet away..some cinnamon and maybe a little tartness came through too..the flavor of this beer caught me so off guard..it had super-strong authentic cherries..at first sip, the puckering sourness made the sides of my cheeks tingle, my eyes scringe, and my lips resemble a huge smile..the sweetness is there and strong yet not at all cloying and in perfect balance with the sour cherries..This is much sweeter than most if not all flemish sour ales..and after a few sips, the sourness is almost completely unnoticeable...and I'm not sure that it really fits into that category at all...but a "fruit beer" categorization would not do this beer any justice..oh that cherry pie filling taste is so real..its crazy..by far the most authentic cherry taste I've ever experienced in any beer...I think the only fault is the low alcohol level here...if it had an alcohol warming effect to it, it would be close to perfect.

750ml bottle. Holy crap was this sweet! Pours a hazy deep red with a small off white ring. Nose of sweet cherry juice with tons of sweet and slightly tart cherry flavor....sweet, sweet, sweet!! I needed to share this with more than 2 other people for sure.

via trade with 1FastSTi - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. Light spotty lacing. Has a very pleasant cherry, cranberry aroma. Has a wonderful tart cherry flavor. Leaves a slight tart aftertaste. Medium body. Probably the best fruit beer I’ve tried to date. Very good. Thanks Blake.
