Aroma is sweet cherries, light funkiness, and tart. Taste is sweet cherry pie like flavor, but quickly turning slightly tart with a clean lightly sour finish. Much better than the bottle I previously had, just a great fruit beer.
courtesy of cperry8483. I’ve been dying to try this beer for awhile, and finally got my hands on some. Pours a dark murky burgundy/light brown with a thin head and good carbonation. Aroma is mainly of sour cherries/wood. Taste is complex, sweet w/cherries up front, then quickly turns funky with a tart finish. beerbill (1951), Laurel, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 12, 2009 750 ml bottle courtesy of a trade with brentfeesh. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a thin-moderate off-white head that disappeared after a quarter of the glass and left a fairly complex network of lace webbing. Very pleasant aroma of fresh cherry with some malt peaking through as well. The cherry in the flavor is even more intense than the aroma and is fairly sweet but is not cloying nor does it taste like cough medicine. Effervescent and lively on the palate, which I think keeps the cherry bright and light. There is a subtle spice flavor in the aftertaste of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Delicious! phishpond417 (1946), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2008 Finally, I have tried this beer. It’s one of those that I run across all the time, it was worth every penny. Pours a brandy-reddish colour with a wonderful fruity nose. Packed with lots of carbonation and a pound of cherries, it has a super wicked fruity tart cherry taste in each sip. A highly carbonated mouthfeel that feels a little chewy at times. And the head is like one of a Lambrusco, with a soft foamy top that slowly dissapears. Mighty fine brew. scraff (1942), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Dark red, lasting white head. Nice lacing left behind. Nose is McDonald’s cherry pie, butter, crust and all. Flavors adds notes of spices, light vanilla, and of course, some sour cherry. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, syrupy, somewhat funky tannic finish. Amazing.... MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 9, 2005 Yet another fine beer given to me by the extraordinarily charitable Jeffc666. Hazy bright red with hints of orange. Head light tan with a faint hint of pink. nose very fresh and full of cherry, some faint earthiness and cocoa for a bit of depth. Flavor bursts with cherry goodness both tart and sweet, wonderfully fruity and tasty, tart and acidic. Bit toasty and nutty, like of like a pie crust. It’s just good. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 After all these years, not at all what I was expecting. An alluring red-orange with a minimal head. Ethereal cherry bomb aroma, followed by a nice cherry flavor, that is relatively well-balanced. High amounts of unfermentables, with a soft sweetness that does not become too much. An excellent dessert libation, but not remotely beery. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 28, 2003 Poured a huge white head in a tulip glass and a cloudy red appearance. The aroma is incredible. A big bouquet of cherries. Initial sips were a pleasant sweet and sour, not overdone either way. Well carbonated. A nice offering from New Glarus. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2004 Updated: Nov 25, 2005Thanksgiving 2005. Hazy ruby red grapefruit color with a fluffy, non-stick lacing. Aromatics accentuate the fruity nature, drawing out red currant, cherry 7-up, cherry cheesecake, red grapes and mild juniper berries. Sprits of cherry cordials is the first non-"given" flavor to register. Sweetness prevails, curtailing with a mild fruit sourness. Ruby red grapefruit compliments the heap of cherries in the sweetening aspects, not as a souring agent. Encompasing and ripe on the palate, finishing like cherry cheesecake and natural cherry sauce drizzled all over.
Thanksgiving 2004. Very interesting. Tart. You can tell the real cherries that go into this are carefully selected. Nice hops, wheat senstation too. It’s hard to describe what this beer is like. I brought it to Thanksgiving dinner and it went really well with the turkey.
