Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Massive cherry pie nose, sweet on the lips, some medicinal notes lurking underneath, long rich, cheww pie crust middle gives way to a long cherry, tangy, somewhat woodie and hoppy finish. One of a kind. near perfect beer.

Rerate. 750mL bottle I picked up @ the brewer in the beginning of February. Pours a murky pinkish brown with a half finger pinkish white head. Aroma of lovely sweet ripened cherries, sweet cherry juice, bread crusts, and a bit of spice. Flavor is much the same with some cinnamon, caramel, oak, and some light tart acidity. Semidry spicy finish. Moderate carbonation with a light body. Overall pretty sweet and delicious--perfect for dessert. Old rating follows. 750mL, no date--though I picked this up in May of 2006. Pours a cloudy brown red with a small reddish white head. Strong aroma of cherry juice, cherry pie filling, light wheat, cinnamon and spices. The taste has a litle bit more wheat and grain and cinnamon, though the cherries is of course the dominant flavor. This is quite sweet, though never gets cloying. There is a tart finish with some spice. Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Very good beer. Plus, I got to meet Dan Carey this weekend, and is quite friendly. Met for the 2nd time, actually. 8-4-8-3-16--3.9

LCRBM 2009. The bottle looks simple, but good. The beer in the glass is red-brown, modest turbid, small head. Chewing-gum aroma. Starts very sweet and fruity like melon. Finish modest sourish-bitter, still very fruity. Very sweet aftertaste. Unusual, but good!

Sweet-tart cherry pie including the doughy crust all in one glass. This gift courtesy of CORNFIELD at the latest LoSBD meeting. Good work Carl.

I’ve been wanting to try this one for a really long time. Pours a cloudy red with a thin white pink head. Smells like a cherry or strawberry candy jolly rancher. Very tantilizing. Very candy sweet like the taste just like the smell. You get the huge cherry taste as I’m sure was intended for this beer. The flavor just explodes in your mouth and the aftertaste is quite big. Truly a delight.

Notes cannot describe my complete disgust with this beer. I’ve tasted it several times and I am still flabbergasted that people actualy enjoy this shit. I don’t want to taste pie crust in a fruit beer. I do love the raspberry tart though, but that is very balanced and succulent.

Nice ruby brown pour, with a super creamy and foamy white head, tinged a dirty rose. I’m starting to salivate. Viscous rise of rich cherries: black, rainier, michigan, and marachino. Flavor starts with a very candied cherry flavor, but then melds into a sweet Abbey-like molasses, gingered brandy and cream. Reminds of entering a bakery run by Monks. Finish is a lingering dabble of peaches and more cherries. Very carbonated. Intense. Light alcohol notes and a tinge of champagne.

Light ruby, smaller white head and just a hint of lace. Aromas of cherry, slighly sour, some malts, and a touch of a pie crust aroma. Almost a cherry cobler as well. There is also brown sugar apparent. Flavors are mainly a cherry pie filling, then a strong sour flavor. Strong malts along with it. There’s that crust again. This is crazy cherries. Thick syrupy palate, full body, and a sweet and sour finish of cherries. Nice. I thank Buck Dich for sharing, JagerQueen for transporting and Skaughty for providing!
