Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Bottle... Poured reddish-ruby with a bubbly head. Sweet fruit flavors that weren’t overdone and unbalanced. Crisp and refreshing. A little tart and bold at the same time.

Bottle at the Cuvee de Castleton release at Captain Lawrence. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a thin beige head. Nose is all fruit. Big cherry notes with a touch of caramel. Flavor is incredible. Sweet and sour cherry with a lovely tang…utterly gorgeous. I’m glad I have a bottle of this still sitting in the cellar thanks to daknole, because I am going to relish drinking this again.

Traded bottle. This could easily be liquid crack and become habit forming. Cloudy brown pour with a small offwhite head and sheets of lacing. Aroma picks up both sweet and sour from the cherries which is also true for the flavour. Only knock is that maybe the cerries over power the grain and hops a little. Still a tremendous beer.

Bottle- Ruby red, pink fluffy head, what an aroma!!! Calpol- sweet cherry, over fermented porridge *my wifes note* mmmm some spice there too, wow. Flavour: Wonderful spicey cherry flavour, very unique, very individual. Tart, sweet-sour, brilliant. A perfect summer drink, heck a perfect drink for any time of year!! Incredible

Bottle shared at the CA-GA cultural beer exchange hosted by alexanderj. Nice reddish brown pour. Aroma is cherries, very nice, and mostly sweet. Flavor is the same, nice sweet cherries but also some sour cherry skins. Really good blend; I really like good fruit beers.

Poured a nice ruby red color with a tiny pinkish white head. Aroma was all sour cherries. Flavor was much the same. Not sweet at all, just tart sour cherries. Like eating liquid cherry pie. This one proves that something can be strictly one dimensional and still be very good.

Oh my. Pinkish reddish hue, phenomenal pie cherry aroma, I can taste it now. Like a cherry pie gone right (not easy in my book) with crust and everything. These New Glarus fruit beers are so much more impressive to me as I am initially put off but fruit beers in general. Excellent job.

From Bottle. Pours a fiery orange and peach skin color with a tall froth of pink tainted, toasted marshmellow head. Powerful aroma of freshly baked cherry pie complete with the fruity tartness found from the cherry skins. A pleasant spiciness of autumn apple cider lurks underneath, spiced with orange peel, lemonade, and a pinch of cinnimon. Some sweet and spicy orange marmalade as well. A light pastriness reminds me of a delicate, french crepe topped with a mountain of fresh fruit and whipping cream. Medium bodied, sparkling mouthfeel with a clove spiciness and smack of sour apple sauce. Wonderful balance between sugary cherry sweetness, tart fermented lemons, and a supberbly complimentary spiciness. Final smack of freshly squeezed pomegranite juice. Thanks, Tom!
