"I can not tell a lie," this was like George Washington placing his right hand on the trunk and left hand on the branches of a cherry tree...and ringing it out like a towel just above my glass. INCREDIBLE!!! Pours a soft red with small rose foam. Washington cherry blossoms and freshly baked pie tease the nose. The flavor combines buttery flaky crust, sweet ripened fruit, and cherry tartness. This beer is distinguished, legendary, and should be celebrated!!! 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 4, 2007 I just bought another case of this. I can’t think of another beer I buy by the case. I could drink one of these every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it. It’s not my favorite, but it always brightens my day and never ceases to amaze. The pour is very hazy, luminous reds and browns swirling around each other. A small off-white head with pink tinted splotches forms and dissipates quickly. The glow of such a deep, murky color scheme is astounding. The aroma is very sweet and very peircing. Notes of fresh cherries, pie crust, light spices and not a hint of alcohol. Anything in the aroma that is not a scent directly related to fresh cherries probably comprises less than five percent of the total. This is also the absolute, definitive benchmark example of fruit extraction into aroma without creating even a hint of a medicinal character...it just smells like ripe fruit, freshly picked. The flavor is also highly sweet, with small intermittent hints of acidity. No medicinal qualities found here either, even though it is incredibly sweet and has no noticeable backing bitterness. Tartness is moderate and steady throughout. The finish is sublime; very sweet, cherry pie notes lingering on until the next sip, or a sip of something else comes along. The mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, which in this case is welcome as it helps to further accentuate the lovely fruit composite. Medium to medium-heavy in body, very smooth and rigid in its structure. Truly breathtaking. alexsdad06 (1090), Ohio, USA

The aroma quickly transports you into a cherry orchard on a perfect summer morning. pours slightly cloudy red with a thin head. Flavor is cherry of all varieties; sweet, sour, etc., but also includes the other characteristics found in good belgian ales. This was a very balanced beer. My Christmas present came early when I discovered a family member who travels to Wisconsin on a regular basis. We now have a standing order. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

I tend to enjoy the fruity-ish kind of stuff but this is by far the best that I have had. Cool pour and colour, the palate is smoothe yet tangy. After a couple of these it can get a little sweet. But overall a great beer.
EDIT: 7/26/2003, I went to my favorite bar (Boltini) where I normally purchase this stuff and the bartender told me that this beer is NO LONGER BEING DISTRIBUTED. Apparently this stuff is doing so well that they have decided to limit production and distribution OR they are going to start mass producing the stuff. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 1, 2005 Bottle thanks to BierBauch. Pour is a murky red/brown color. Aroma opens up to a cider cherry smell. Something similar to cherry pie filling, but with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is something else. It really caought me off gaurd. It first smelled a little vinegar like when I cracked it open, but after a pour it changed. The flavor is a lot like that. It really came off bitter and tart at first. Then I got more cherry sweetness and some of nice wooden smoothness towards the end. Palate is initailly a bit acidic and from the tart flavor, but it really smooths out later and leave a slightly dry taste on the tongue, just itching for another drink. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 8, 2005 Big thanks to BBB63 for this. the color is a cloudy rusty red, with a dense foamy light tan head that goes quickly. aroma is cherries sauteed in a turbinado demi-glaze. faint yeastiness and tartness in the aroma too. pretty high carbonation. flavor is sweet dried cherries, quite like ones I’ve had from Michigan, and more flavors like the aroma. also tastes like the cherry shish kabobs that I had at a restaurant called the Persian Grill in Phila PA about ten years ago. the tartness in the finish is very well placed and refreshing. the aftertaste is very clean. lacing appears at each sip, making wild island like patterns. was there alcohol? I drank the whole bottle fairly fast and didn’t feel it much. I could tell this was a beer, but didn’t get much malt or hops. went well with roasted walnuts, but this would go great with a lot of things. this is an UBER KREIK! thanks again, BBB63!!
