The Door County cherries really shine through on the nose. Beer is well-carbonated and almost champagne-like in the mouthfeel. Cherries and some subtle oak comprise most of the flavor. Aftertaste has more of those wonderful wonderful cherries. HogTownHarry (4005), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 7, 2006 Bottle (750ml). Shared with blankboy and Dave B - courtesy of Ughsmash. Poured murky peachy-ruby, small white head. Sweet juicy aroma, cherries, grapes, very fresh - oddly like the red bit on a tri-colour popsicle. Tart taste of fresh sour cherries, some yeast and a bit of dry oaked chardonnay - thick, syrupy, carbonated mouthfeel, finishes a little acidic and bitter - I love this, each of us said we could drink a whole 750 ourselves. Wish it were summer as I type this. Sammy (4003), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

If you had true Black Forrest cake you know what I am talking about. Lil touch of vanilla to balance thing out. Superb fruity aroma .Cherry like ruby appearance, bright white head. Medium sweet, true fruity feel .Very like my Grandpas cherries I loved to eat. Very rich, one of best if not the best fruit beer there is. jerc (3911), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Rich ruby coloured body no head by the time it got to me but I will give it the benefit of the doubt based on past experience. Massive aroma of sweet cherries with a tiny note of cherry pits. Yowza! Complex cherry flavour are sweet then tart with just the vaguest hint of sourness. If I liked cherries more this would be a 10/10. Smooth palate is just a touch light but is perfectly appropriate for this beer. Aroma still fills the glass with just a drop left - amazing. Must... re-try... raspberry tart. +/3+/8-9/3+/16-18 - 4.4

June 5 2004 Tiggmtl’s post-Mondiale: Bright ruby red, and nice off white head, less of the dregs of the bottle than the previous sample. Big cherry aroma with ever so slight cough syrup medicinal notes. Complex flavour profile, with multiple levels, tart around the edges of a big sweet cherry foundation. 8/4/8/3/17 - 4.0

April 2004 - Nice aromatics of sour cherries is my first impression. Flavour of sour cherries is dominant over a bit of malt and a sweet foundation. Amazing palate for this type of beer. Small sample courtesy of NorthYorkSammy. 8/4/8/4/16 - 4.0 beerguy101 (3907), Newark, California, USA

Aroma is cherry and malt. WOW.. AND I DO MEAN WOW!! I had this beer several years ago, and while I had no notes on it. It tastes exactly the way I remembered it. Medium bodied. Intense cherry flavor, sweet, sour and tart. There is some malt sweetness as well as hop spiciness as well. Complex and intense flavors. Extremely smooth. Not very beer like, closest style might be a lambic?? But, who cares it tastes amazing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is clean and sweet. World class beer.
-------& this beer at the Oregon Brewers Festival several years ago. No notes on it, but I do remember it as one of the best beers I have ever tasted. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

We drank this one to try and give our palates a break from the other big brews that had been battering our senses. This brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized slightly purplish hazy colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing. There was a grainy sediment to it that was visibly suspended within it. It had a strong cherry aroma and a bubbly sour cherry mouthfeel. The flavor was once again fruity. Another very nice brew, a bit sour, but then I think it was supposed to be that way hehe. Sure this isn't a fruit beer? Braudog (3763), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 4, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Brandon Orr. Orange-red with a thin but full head. Wow -- this exudes a full-on sweet cherry aroma. It drinks extremely sweet-tart, like cherry juice or cherry jelly. Ultimately I decide this is no kidding cherry pie in a glass. Like my wife’s Aunt Janet’s cherry pie. This would go great with a big gooey chocolate dessert. (#3446, 5/3/2008)
