Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

The belgian red pours a great red color with tan undertones. The aroma is cherries-real cherries, not the cherry robotussin you get out of a lot of these beers. The flavor is full of tangy sour cherries backed up with a nice, light malt body. The finish is dry and just a touch tart. Excellent beer.

Just a fruit explosion. I do not like and seldom drink fruit beers. But the quality of this beer just blows me away. My first taste was at GABF 1997, and this beer stood far above every beer at the fest. You would swear you were drinking straight sour cherry juice fermented as beer. A beautiful beer that will no longer be available in Chicago beginning February 2003. Grab it now while you can!

Colour of coffee with a nice foam which quickly disappears. Very complex aroma of cherry, alcohol, cinnamon and almond. The flavour is very well-balanced with a light domination of sweetness. Spicy, very carbonated. Persistence of spices in the aftertaste. Excellent but just a little bit too carbonation.

Bottle via JPDIPSO (thanks John!!) I’ve wanted to get a bottle of this for quite some time, so once my box today arrived, a bottle of this went straight into the fridge. Upon opening this thing just burst out cherry smells. Poured into a flute with the same result, smells like a cherry with a little wheat too. The aroma is the best part, by far. Taste is sweet and not very sour but it has a nice kick to it that lets you know there is some sourness to it. Very smooth to drink, too smooth acutally. My bottle disappeared in 20 minutes leaving me pleased yet upset that it was gone so quick. It was like once I started drinking it I could not stop until I was out of it. A damn fine fruit beer that should be on top of everyones want list.

Poured from a 750 into a small tumbler, 11/6/04. I’ve had this divine nectar a few times, and have finally decided to rate it. Beautiful beer, and well-deserving of its rating. The best New Glarus has to offer. Pours a murky orange-tinged cherry with huge frothy pink head. Aroma is fruity but not acidic and sharp; rather warm and malty, like cherries simmering in a cider form and cooled. The taste is sharp acid at first, but rounds into a buttery fruitiness that is more balanced than any other fruit beer I’ve ever had. The blissful finish lingers long. Great beer.

Thank you Jeremy (jgb9348) for this huge surprise!! Cloudy orange color with a lingering, yet small. Nice fruity aroma. What a taste. Great balance between sweetness and bitter/tartness. Cherries, among other fruits. Such a great taste. Doesn't kick you in the palate either, which is quite impressive. A very well made brew.

Pretty ruby red color, suprisingly long lasting head, cherry vanilla aroma,a very very sour cherry taste, had a thickness to it. I prefer the Lindemans Kriek

Aroma: cherry pie and cherry cough syrup--sugary sweetness, cherry pie filling and cherry pits and cinnamon
Appearance: dark cherry red, pink-cream head, lacing
Flavor: cherries, cherry pits and skins, very fruity, sugary-sweet like cherry pie filling
some raisin aftertaste, butter/cream, very smooth and bubbly, slight tartness
Overall: very, very good for a fruit beer!
