Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

No matter how many times I try this it never ceases to amaze me. Just the right amount of tartness, creamy and rich mouthfeel, that is wonderful with food or with desert. Fills the palate with wonderful fruit flavors, and just the right amount of carbonation. Beautiful!

Bottle courtesy of pfoxyjohn. I’ve been wanting to try this and it didn’t let down. Pours a murky reddish color with a sudsy head that is short lived and settles to patches. The aroma is not at all in your face with cherries as I might have expected, very nice, cherries, candi sugar, malt, a real nice scent that seems to pick up steam the more I smell it. Flavor is tart at first then a silky smooth cherry taste, but not a one dimensional cherry beer and at times I thought I was picking up some apple or pear as well. Malt content is definitely there to give it a nice creamy backing that compliments the tart flavor very well. The finish is just slightly cherry tart but subtle. Velvety and soft from start to finish, authentic flavors, or so it seemed to me, seemingly nothing artificial about this. Obviously very well crafted. Not at all hard to enjoy, so easy to drink and tasty. My wife liked this one as well so I shared with her. Thanks pfoxyjohn!

Courtesy of Fishingnet. Pours deep red/ruby with white head. Aroma is loaded with fresh cherries. Taste is fantastic. New Glarus has outdone itself on this one. Fresh cherries all over with a light tart note. Perfect mix between the hops and malts, making the beer not too bitter. Highly drinkable. Something you will want to sip on and enjoy for a while. Rerate update. Enjoyed some more of this beer, and truly is an amazing experience. New Glarus has hit the target with the best cherry beer that remains enjoyable, drinkable from beginning to end. Pure goodness.

Bottle shared at the CA-GA cultural beer exchange hosted by alexanderj. Nice reddish brown pour. Aroma is cherries, very nice, and mostly sweet. Flavor is the same, nice sweet cherries but also some sour cherry skins. Really good blend; I really like good fruit beers.

Shared with my wife and great friends. Pours a watery red and has a thin white head. Aroma is big sweet cherry, but very fresh and not sugary or syrupy. Just a very fresh cherry aroma. Taste has both a little of sweet and tart cherry. Nicely carbonated, a very nice balance of not too smooth and syrupy nor champagne like. Does not get cloyingly sweet either. Would make a wonderful after dinner drink, just delightful.

I once worked at a bar that had this on tap. You really can"t appreciate the color until you have poured it into a 2 liter boot. Great aroma and taste.

Pours a medium red with a light white head. Aroma is strong with cherries. I was just in Door county last weekend and they are well known for their cherries. This beer is filled with them and has a beautifully strong taste of them. The flavor is residual for a few minutes. This beer goes very well with a small meal. Highly recommend.

Served this in place of champagne at my wedding. Tasting notes to follow when I get another bottle. Re-Rate Very strong tart cherry flavors, mingle with a musty yeastiness and a good sour flavor. Looks beautiful in the glass with its pink head and beautiful bright red hue. Smells like cherries and a little funk. There is a cherry pie flavor that is a little odd in the mix though.
