Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Color a cloudy dark red on first pour. Cleared up after settling for a few minutes. Tart and sweet, just like a cherry is supposed to be. Retains enough malt and wheaty character to miss being mistaken for champagne. Well carbonated and well balanced with hops. A perfect partner with dessert, especially chocolate.

Pours a deep crimson amber color w/ a medium sized, pink spritzy froth. Hang time is nil but residual lacing is full. Aromas of fresh, tart, cherry pie. Nice! Medium full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. Huge, fresh sweet cherries from just underripened to perfectly ripe. A defind tartness balances the moderate sweetness. Other nuances of pommegranite, lemonaide, w/ slight biscuiting. The finish is bitterd w/ a tar, acidic component. This brew is thirst quenching and very drinkable. I have to add. I drank this after a pizza dinner. When I eat pizza, I can’t quench my thirst. I can keep drinking until I am uncomfortable. I popped this open and it totally quenched my thirst. First time ever. Thanks Glarus !

A great presentation right out of the gates with a wax coating the bottle cap. Very dark red appearance with a lot of sediment which poured a light lacy head of foam. Strong aroma of cherries and other fermented goodies. Initial taste of tart cherries, maybe even a slight rhubarb tinge, with a very pleasant and sweet aftertaste. I love this stuff!

Amazing! Tried it first when we went for the New Glarus Brewing Company tour. It was one of the samples after the tour that day. I am not normally a beer drinker but I rave about this to everyone. You would think that it may not mesh just right for your palate initally, but the cherry notes are perfect, and almost provides a lingering sweet cherry aftertaste, over the initial boldness. The carbonation level is perfect, it is lightly carbonated in my opinion. There is no slack in the brewing of this gem, batch after batch this stuff is perfect. We now get this for every single one of our dinner parties because it pairs nicely with practically anything. Both Beer and Wine lovers can really enjoy New Glarus Belgian Red!

This beer is truly decadent. It’s like candy. Pour this into a wide-mouth glass to see how viscous it is and it’s dark ruby color. Take a big whiff - there’s no hop aroma there, but a deep, strong, dark cherry aroma. When drinking it, you’ll notice just how full bodied it is and how the cherry flavor coats your mouth. It’s almost like a sweet cherry syrup with fizzy undertones. It leaves you with a nice warm cherry flavor in your mouth. Imagine a cherry lambic without the funk aroma, flavor bite, or throaty aftertaste. This is a treat. I make special trips into Wisconsin for this.

It had been a few years since I last had this beer. Shared one with some friends...It did not disappoint. Beautiful nose with the perfect melding of the cherries. Wonderful

I was amazed by this beer. The color was a nice dark reddish color, the flavor had an amazing "REAL" cherry flavor not the syrup like candy cherry flavor. I was really stunned how good this is and I will definitely buy again.
