Commercial Description:
Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

I was amazed by this beer. The color was a nice dark reddish color, the flavor had an amazing "REAL" cherry flavor not the syrup like candy cherry flavor. I was really stunned how good this is and I will definitely buy again.

I can believe that there is a pound of cherries in here. Not a big fan of fruit beers, I really enjoyed this. I cannot compare this to any other beer, because it is definitely unique, but delicious! It sort of tastes like soda, sort of like wine, but also like beer. Whatever that means. But it sure is tasty. Thanks hey_kevin!

It is hard to think of this as a beer, and so i rated upon the experience itself. It is very sweet and fruity, very easy to drink, not something you should get if you are looking for a hoppy or even any beer flavor, but if you are looking for an experience, this is the ticket.

A very thin white head tops a very dark cloudy red body. The aroma hits you from the bottle and continues right into the glass. It is deep cherry pie with a touch of cinnamon and butter. The first thing i noticed as I drank this was that it is smooth with a creamy mouthfeel. The taste is sour cherries, a little hay and cinnamon. The finish is peppery and lively. This is excellent and would be perfect as a dessert with a fruit pie or cheese cake. It could be a little more tart.

Pours a rich, hazy raspberry red with a small off-white head. Aroma of cherries and strawberries. Tons of fresh fruit in the flavor; no artificial sweetness or cloyingness despite the massive cherry character. Very sweet and tarty, like an organic fruit rollup. It’s like drinking homemade cherry pie. I could drink this by the gallon. Absolutely amazing!

you must be joking me! Awesome aroma of cherries, hops and malt, with floral outhouse notes. Taste is quite the explosion, a bit sweet when it hits the tongue with a finish that matches it, hops and bitterness that make up for the sweetness. The palate is just awesome, a very complex brew and quite elegant. This is one of the best beers I´ve had ... hands down to New Glarus for this one .. wow!

Red-brown color with a nice head. Lots of carbonation (like champaign). The aroma is pure delight, cherries step to the forefront. The cherry tartness slaps you across the face but then mellows out to sweet-sour balance. This beer is not sugary sweet and bland like some cherry beers. Among the very best in it genre into the world, many Belgium breweries wish their Krieks were this good. Re-rate: A very fresh bottle I got on trip to Milwaukee - the oak undertones seem to be more noticeable this time. Again, simply a great beer.

Light burgundy body. Best cherry aroma ever. Just like warm cherry pie, crust and all. I spent the better part of 20 minutes just sniffing this one. Heavily sweet throughout with a light acidity in the finish. Medium body, creamy/oily texture, average carbonation. The bottom line is: (drools). edit 1/4/05: body is fuller than I originally thought and the carbonation is a bit heavier. Still smells and tastes great. Oak is much more apparent now that I have a 750 of this than it was with my original, smaller sample. I’m bumping up the flavor (9->10), palate (4->5), and overall (17->19) now that I have a larger sample. Props to ClarkVV!
