Commercial Description:
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

Clear gold, wispy white head. The bottle was full of a disturbing amount of floaties and, while I’m willing to chug down the chunks from some breweries, I doubt the quality of the yeast poop here, so I dodged it. Nose of yeast, bit of spice, and rotting apples, fruity but a bit off. Flavor is sugared citrus, a mite cloyingly sweet like not-particularly-good honey. Not much zip or zing. Aftertaste is a bit medicinal, some hop bite but too chemical.

Golden yellow body with a small very short lived foam. Aroma is pronounced and is full of fruit such as peach and grape. It is almost a wine nose. Flavor is dry citrus, yeast, floral, grass and alcohol. After drinking a wonderful fruity / malty flavor remains. It is fairly complex and very enjoyable. Like a good book this had a distinct beginning, middle, and end. I was sorry to see the glass empty.

Pours clear gold, with an inch-plus head of dense white. Rings and smears of clingy foam on the glass, and retention holds up for the first five minutes. Light malt, phenols, earthy citrus, and crushed grass lead of the nose. Aromatics finish slihtly vineous, tannic, and hay-like. The mouthfeel is light, a bit syrupy and tacky. Lacking carbonation for a triple. Orangy citrus, honey, bitter cloves, and light malt start the pallet off, with hints of juniper and grapefruit pith following through. Finishes with lightly warming alcohol and residual honey-like sweetness. This beer seemed pretty mainstream at first until it warmed up a bit and breathed. A unique take on the style, but falls short of being a truly great triple or funky enough to be a wild ale.

Fruity, citrusy aroma. Taste is hop, sweet caramel, resin, and toast. Alcohol near the end, and a mellow aftertaste of floral hops. Nice body, and no cloying aftereffects are a plus.

Nose is a good malt, yellow plums, pears too, golden amber, tiny off-white head. Flavour has pears, white plums, white wine, some green grapes and malt. light bodied, yeasty, peppery and zingy, nice tongue tingle, dry finish. Pretty good.

yellow straw color with very slight head. first noticed is the very mild carbonation for a tripel, by far the least carbonated i have seen. flavor is of biscuit malt and rock candy, which results in a tasty beer that is not terribly complex however. not bad

Bomber bottle poured into a Trappist glass. NHBTTA pours like grapefruit wih a smallish head that settles quickly. It smells like mild grapefruit and peaches and the hops infuse the who aroma. Mostly I taste canned peach syrup. The heavy floral tastes do nothing to improve this beer. The body is cloying and it leaves a horrible bitterness in the back of your throat. This is not a good tasting beer. This is a definite miss. I’ll choke down the rest of it because I’m cheap and won’t waste it.
