Commercial Description:
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

750ml bottle. Pours a clear pale orange/amber with a thin, wispy head. Aroma is sweet and earthy, with a hint of yeast alongside much stronger aromas of honey, floral notes, and citrusy hops. Taste is medium-bodied and smooth, with an initial taste of alcohol, hops, and citrus giving way to a lingering dry finish of malt and some odd earthy notes that are somewhat sour. A solid brew, but rather simple for a tripel.

Nuts, honey-like sweetness, and a toasty finish mark this fine trippel’s aroma. It is somewhat like a cider in appearance with a clean, medium siena hue. The flavor is sublime, slightly floral, bready, and herbal with a slightly sweet finish that lingers on the palate. Would pair exceptionally well with a slice of apple pie with cheddar baked into the crust.

Thin almost non existant head. Minimal carbonation. Strange for a "belgian" brew. Nice and fruity aroma with a bit of citrus (lemon/lime), grassy notes and some sweet malts. Hazy golden orange in color. Sweet malty flavor with a bit of vegetable in there. Alcohol is well hidden. Little bit dry and bitter late swallow. Finishes kind of pasty and dry with a some lingering spices and malts. A decent triple.

Had this on tap at New Holland as part of their GABF gold medal celebration. Poured a dark golden color. Nice floral fruity aroma. Typical sweet and fruity taste, nice and full and multi dimensional. I think this is one of the better tripels I have had.

Pours a clear orange color with miniscule amounts of bubbly white head. Aroma very strong caramel spices and floral hops with some orange and grapefruit undertones. Flavor starts sweet and light mouthfeel but then shifts to floral hoppy bitterness and slight belgian yeast taste. Finish dry adn bitter. Overall, i found to be pretty enjoyable.

750 ml. bottle. Clear gold pour, spare whitish head, although it amazingly leaves some good lace. Toffee like aroma with some spicy and floral character. Very lightly carbonated, as suggested by the small head, with a medium body, and some stickiness and palate coating character. Decidedly sweet, and although a faint bitterness comes on at the end, it’s not enough for sufficient balance. Just too sweet.

poured a very light golden color. Smelled like sweet fruit. Tasted like sweet malts, syrup, and oranges. Was hoping for a bit more from this one...A bit disappointed. Rerated: 9/12/09 Not sure if I had a bad bottle before or what, but my second sampling of this beer proved much more enjoyable. Loved the malty sweetness and was blended well...Very good.
