Commercial Description:
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (bread), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of corn syrup, DMS, detergent, alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. A big syrupy sweet mess of a beer.

Poured a cloudy amber yellow color with a weak head. The aroma was disgusting, especially within style: some sort of chemical scent on top of sour apples and caramel. The flavor was sour, rotten apples, and bruised, over-ripened bananas. No yeast, no hops, lots of astringency. A pretty nasty tripel and an overall unenjoyable beer. Mouthfeel was slightly acidic and very thin. I poured this one after 3-4 ounces. All bad.

Cloudy yellow body with a very small white head. Aroma was a bit thin, almost watery if that’s possible, with some hops and ripe banana. The thickness of the palate surprised me after the light nose. The flavor was initially sweet, with banana and maybe peach notes, and finished quite hoppy. An unusual tripel, but tasty.

Pours a golden amber with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of orange, almost a hoppy aroma at first. Followed by some caramel malts? Is this a tripel? As this one warmed I got some of the spices and yeast I would expect from the style, but not much else. A bit of cardboard coming through. Maybe a bit of oxidation setting in on this one. Flavor again had much more of a hop presence than I expected from a tripel. Some citrus, banana and a slight sourness. More malty than I expected too. Still thinking that something was off in this one though.

A nice beer. Pours golden with a good crisp taste. Not much of a head. Notes of citrus.
