Commercial Description:
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

On tap at MBG Summer Festival. Poured a pale gold with a white head. Aroma consisted of notes of coriander, citrus and sweet grain. Taste was pleasantly sweet with citrus and flora notes. Pretty basic.

22 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear light amber color with a moderately large head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is pale bready malts, strong caramel, pear, peach, banana. Taste is caramel, toasted bread, bitter grassy notes and faint pear and other fruit notes. Sweet and sugary at first with a dry finish. Medium bodied. Decent tripel.

22oz Bottle. A cloudy dark golden color body , with a two finger lasting white head , lots of spotty lacing , highly carbonated. Aroma is of lemon zest, banana, spice and dough. Flavor is sweeter than expected ,warming, malty, slight grain taste, rock candy, peppercorns, banana, and light cloves , the high carbonation keeps the sweetness in check , faint hops in the finish , full body , smooth / lively mouthfeel . Very good and drinkable.

BOTTLE: light gold pour, white head. Aroma of sweet honey, yeast, graham cracker. Taste is VERY sweet - overpowers the Belgian spice charater. Alcohol comes through a bit, but at 9%, its a little masked. Just okay for a trippel.

Sampled draft on tap at the brewpub (Holland, MI). Pours a clear straw yellow, moderate bright white head that dies to a film and coats the sides. Aromas are decent belgian yeast, a touch of apple and pear sweetness or esters, a touch of champagne dryness. Initial is light and airy, light fruity sweetness, a touch of belgian and champagne yeast combo? A touch creamy, very delicate yet light on the belgian spice (A huge plus in my book). Finishes dry, mellow fruity sweetness. Champagne-esque. Very nice. Cheers!
