Poured a pale yellow/gold color, into my New Belgium globe, with a one finger head quickly receding with some fairly decent lacing.
Smells of bananas, bread dough, and spices. Overall pretty nice.
Taste is mild bananas, orange peel, a little candied sugar and some mild spices. Gets slightly better as it warms. The smell was more promising than the taste was able to deliver, however, I still enjoyed this beer.
I know New Holland has had problems with inconsistency, so I feel pretty lucky that this one was as good as it is based on some of the other reviews that I’ve read.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 10, 2005 Small, frothy, white head. Medium gold-copper hue. Banana/clove, candi sugar, light alcohol, pepper, lemon, riesling, dusty, and pearskin aromas. Fairly simple and standard tripel aroma. Moderately sweet, moderately sour flavor. Lightly sweet, moderately sour, lightly bitter finish. Wierd lactic sourness for a tripel. Medium-full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. DYCSoccer17 (2192), Davis, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 5, 2005 Bottle courtesy of my brother. Sweet, sugary citrusy aroma. Has some hoppiness in the nose with some orangey-floral notes. Smells nice, but not really like a tripel. Hazy golden color with a milky whitish head. Sweetish start turning quite astringent and sour with lots of citrus and lemon. Finishes spiced and hoppy with a few floral notes. This is a bizarre beer. I’m not sure if this is infected or if it is intentionally just different with the tulip petals. Not really tripel-like, but it’s also not undrinkable either. Can someone help me out? Is this stuff supposed to be sour? MullMan (1082), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2005 bright and glossy golden color with little to non-existant dissappearing off-white head. aroma is apple/pear, sweet malt and perfumy too. flavor is slightly spicy and lots of coriander, sweet candi malt and bubblegum. mild alcohol and dry finish, like a lemony chenin blanc wine. very different than a true tripel, but fun to drink on a very mild end-of-summer evening. thanks secret santa 1faststi! | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 22, 2005 Nice light golden hue with a quietly subsiding white sheet of bubbles. The flavor is sweet like apple juice, but the 9% seems evident. Smooth flavor is reminiscent of a fruit juice, almost ... apple, banana ... with a drying agent at the end. Not as overpowering as many trippels, but not quite as interesting, either. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Beautifully clear golden, apple juice like color. Head is medium thick, white, but quickly dissipates to nothing. Smell is sharp, bright and fresh clove spice, apple, coriander and pear. Smells perfumey. Taste is strong and very interesting. Overwhelmingly sugary sweet up front, caramel, banana and marshmallows. Along with the sweetness is drying clove and coriander, with decent ale hops. Big alcohol presence. Aftertaste is convoluted from a nasty residual sugars and very bitter hops. Unbalanced, too astringent for my liking. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2005 Dark color with a thin head. Aroma is very complex and malty. Flavor is smooth and malty as well with a smooth bitterness that will linger. Unexpected bitterness, but still a nice unique beer.
